Привет! Была классная разборная доска, а вы её испотрили ,сделали целой!... Теперь она опять не поместится в чемодан. Доски надо делать из двух половин и с тонкими связями чтоб волна их разрушала. Связи легко менялись прямо на берегу.

Can i ask ,is there a reason why you wouldn't put dowels in to join the two together,itll be a tad heavier, but the joint would be stronger ,in my opinion
@coulsonssurf3 ай бұрын
You are correct. But I believe all the strength is is the rails of a surfboard therefore I don’t like to put dowels in. You make a breaking point at either end of the dowel. This will be due to the dowel being to stiff and not flexing. I’ve seen it a million times. Hope this helps

It's much easier to get a perfect lineup without dowels.

Great job, I learned alot. Thanks for clarifying that your mix was qcell and resin. At first it looked like automotive bondo and I was like "what the....". I also liked the butterfly patches. No graphics or paint to cover the repair?

As someone who repairs boards would you say at a certain point repairing a board is silly? Have you ever looked at a repair and said this isn’t worth the time and effort or would be so expensive that it was almost nearing the cost of a new board? Some part of me feels like unless a board has some extreme level of sentimental value, if it’s completely snapped in half it’s probably time for a new board.
@coulsonssurf2 ай бұрын
Absolutely. We get this problem all day Long. Surfboards are just not built as good as they once were and they break way to often now. A lot of people collect ding last and end up with say 10 dings. The time and effort to repair is just not worth it. I’m happy to do it of course but we need to be paid and our shop has to make money so then it comes down to customers choice. It is a tricky one at times. Some surfers still think a ding repair will be $20. It simply just cannot be that price due to cost of materials overheads insurance etc. it’s a battle everyday but we do find a balance.

Would there ever be a use to put some wooden stringers in as well?
@coulsonssurf2 ай бұрын
Of course. I believe it’s unnecessary and creates a breaking point due to stiffness. But that’s just my opinion. I have fixed boards with wooden stringers added and they have been fine. 👍🏻

Good, but a few points, not once did i see you check the rocker as this can be a big difference of a board going good or not again, like no bumps. i guess you using only one patch top and bottom makes it pretty flat but i wondering how strong it would be? Why don't you use the diamond patch do you think this inverted diamond style it saves weight and still strong? Also i don't get how you can apply so much sanding resin top and bottom and avoid drips and runs on underside? Thanks
@coulsonssurf2 ай бұрын
I checked rocker for maybe 15 minutes while qcell is going off. I didn’t want to show this in the video because it is very bring to watch. This is my personal board, yes I only used one patch. For a customers board I would use two unless otherwise requested. This is an experiment for me. I like this butterfly style patch. I don’t think it would matter much I just prefer this method. While filler coating keep flipping the board until resin kicks off. Use your brush to constantly clean the edges and rails. Time it perfectly so you don’t fuck this finish coat. Hope this helps.
