So I was always told by the old timers who caught eel for eating and threw them in a bucket of salt and sand is that eels breath through their skin and the sand calms them because they are suffocating.......True or old wives tale? These old timers would smoke and pickle them. Eat them with crackers and beer

I am completely new to surf fishing because I now visit the Gulf Coast in TX about 6 to 10 times per year. I feel like your video series could save me a lot of time as far as learning because there doesn't seem to be a lot of good info on the Internet about surf fishing and I really want to do some surf fishing everytime I hit the coast. I was contemplating subscribing to the surfcaster website but I see you guys are all on the north eastern Atlantic coast but I guess a lot of the information and tips you guys give are probably universal to surf fishing in general right? Please let me know. Thanks.
