I surf Lake Michigan and I’ll never get to experience this like chicken joe did but it looks like a hell of a time.

Its hard work as the swell is so powerful when it comes from a cyclone! Surfing a lake is incredible! How do you find that experience?
@astrobastro5657 ай бұрын
@@AngusKennedywell you know it’s not an ocean. Over the years the surf community has started to grow more and more here on lake MI. I surf the Wisconsin side. We got a tight knitted community that cares for everyone. Obviously the waves arnt that of an ocean but you can get some surprising power off them. The first time you ride a wave here your surprised because it has way more power than it looked. We can get up to 9ft tall waves here.

@@astrobastro565 wow that’s huge I had no idea a lake could do that!!! I’ve only ever surfed in pacific ocean so I can’t even imagine what that’s like. It’s awesome there’s a little surf community too, that’s what it’s all about.

@michael scurr Love that break down at Angourie hey, one of the best waves I've surfed on the road. 1988 wow! wouldn't even recognise the sunny coast now from then hey, population has exploded and its almost become the Gold Coast. 😥

Amazing video, Thanks so much! I like the bit at 1:55, birds eye view of the amazing fractal shape of the ocean foam. Can we have more of this, a long video of the Swiss chees ocean foam from above looks really amazing. Thanks again

I probably wouldn't post that to KZbin but I'd be more than happy to send you the full clip if you like? I could maybe quickly edit all the birds eye clips I have into a mini movie and perhaps email it to you or something like that? Let me know 🙂

Ok I'll send the link in the comments here once I'm done. What do you think, do you want just all ocean video's I have from top down angle with the drone made into a little mini movie? or just that clip from 1:55 but longer?

Old memories I don't know if it lines up like it use too?. Still I loved 1st pnt out the front right of keyhole.
@AngusKennedy10 ай бұрын
I have moved away from the coast 2 years ago now so I'm not sure how it lines up these days. In my experience surfing it from around 2012-2020 it rarely lined up very well for short boarders, it was a nice long boarding wave but very fat and it was rare you'd find one that walled up. When did you surf here?
@nicktrueman22410 ай бұрын
@@AngusKennedy from the 90s to 2010 around that time frame. Yeah it does get fat and the sections don't line up much.

I've had some incredible waves out there from time to time but also a lot of disappointing sessions where my arms and back are just toast from all the paddling haha.

@@AngusKennedy I loved the place though the turtles clear water in winter pretty magical spot and it can handle the bigger swells. Some of the waves I have seen break out on that outer ledge were pretty heavy but bloody hard to paddle too.

@AngusKennedy yeah man I've only seen it once and the point wasn't breaking the swell came right in and broke right onto the sand you had to jump in from the stair and paddle like crazy to get out but something i will never forget probably some off the biggest scariest lefts I've every surfed the only other place I've sort of experienced surf similar would be shark Island but it brakes onto a reef and it normally goes right
