I've taught a few people to surf over the yrs and while I've never been much of an instructor one thing I've noticed is frequency helps ability exponentially. If you can commit to 3 or even 4 mornings in a row you can learn a lot and you'll be surprised at how fast you improve. Do that as frequently as you can (I know Portlands a bit of a drive, its the curse of being a surfer in the PNW).

You’re absolutely right on the frequency. We did a week long surf camp last year and made so much progress in that one week. But then going back to once in a while surfing here made it difficult to progress further. We still have a lot of fun though!

Haha yeah especially because we typically have to drive nearly 2 hours to get to the beach.

@@JimmyxMelanie Same! I'm 2.5-3 hours depending on the beach. I have started leaving a spare leash, wax, GoPro accessories, etc. in my trunk.

I remember that beach very well. Right near Neahkahnie Mountain, one of the prettiest hikes on the Oregon Coast. Great POV!! Your surfing is definitely getting better.

Thank you! And yes that hike has the best view of the Oregon coast! My plan is to watch the sunset from there one day.

No sadly it does not. I thought the same thing at first. I’m not entirely sure what that is on the nose, haven’t used the board in a few months. Will need to inspect 😅
