Back when we had to walk uphill in the snow both ways to school in the 80s, the sewage spills from Bollona Creek and the one mile Hyperion outfall were legendary in the South Bay after heavy rains. It would creep down the coast with Haggerty's acting like a big shit basket.

eQc - oh hell yeah, it’s genuinely dirty...it’s a storm water drainage area, which in SoCal is also known as a creek or river mouth...anywhere like that is absolutely disgusting after any decent rainfall washes all the garbage down the watershed and concentrates it in places like these. You would be horrified to see what comes down those channels, especially in North OC where there are huge homeless camps up the Santa Ana river basin (dumps out on the HB/Newport border) or the San Gabriel river which releases its poo at the north end of Seal Beach. So your next question is, “why the hell would anyone go out surfing in that mess?” Because. Waves.
