So Jeff finally found a ramp that wouldn't shake when he rode, every wooden ramp shook when he rode 'em. Such correct skateboarding.

I'm just putting a Sims Jeff Phillips Skateboard from circa 82 on Ebay in the next few minutes - it's got the original Indy 169's on it still along with some Gyro wheels which as I recall were the first to have the concave back to ease rolling over and back in over the coping of a pool. These are older off of an older Kryptonics deck that I've still got and that's from about 1978/79.

... Sk8 went this way for a reason.... Vert was dangerous fast and in total turmoil with no new blood or very limited.... The industry had to do something to stay relevant.... Hence the small decks , little wheels and the slowing down of Sk8 in general.... removing most of the danger would usher in all kinds of people that would have never even tried it if it stayed at this level of danger and radness....vert for life 35+ years...😮

He was the only skateboarder to win a major skate comp without doing a 540, after Mike McGill revealed the McTwist. He wasn't happy with the way 540s became an "essential" trick - I think he actually beat Tony Hawk and Hosoi twice. I hate suicides when its cool people doing the murdering.

It’s worth noting that Phillips was pulling 540’s effortlessly around that time too, it’s just that he was one of the purists, who wanted style to remain in his runs, not just the trick of the day? Probably one of the most athletic and toughest skaters from that era?
