Maybe the prettiest, most majestic wave I have ever seen?

I only experienced Cloudbreak once in my long lifetime. One ride many years ago when it was not well known. Its almost a metaphysical experience. Its quite different to Teahupoo which is just raw, dangerous power that last only a few seconds. Cloudbreak seems to take you on a journey and holds you in its hand like it welcomes your presence. When you flip over the back as it closes out, you have a feeling of serenity and beauty, not survival. Its unique. It changes you and restores you. You never want to leave.

It is! Teahupoo, The Right, Shipsterns, Peahi, Mavericks, Nazare, Wiamea. (let's call it 8)
Stunning... is all I can conjure up, but for those who have never surfed Tavarua, the reef at Cloud Break is flat with channels carved into it from water running off it. Restaurants, you sit at the bar and watch (wave directly in front of the Island, hence "Restaurants"), has some of the nastiest coral you never want to deal with... Low tide Restaurants can be ugly if you fall. Great memories of Dave & Jenny Clark when they ran the island ! BULA RIP Druku, you were one amazing Fijian ! Reading some of the comments about the "music"... turn your audio off fools, no reason to diss this ?

Me too, I'm in my 60's and have a fucked back due to working in the oil field and started surfing when I was 9 years old, I've had to stop surfing bigger waves and now have a 10 foot mal and occasionally get out there and relive my youth but in two to three foot surf. As long as you keep moving the body will get through it, stop and you seize up like a rusty ol gate. Keep moving forward my chiropractor tells me. I also have a kayak and that keeps me moving too. Stay young, coz old ain't fun.😂

Absolutely stunning, beautiful waves. Wow. I don’t know where this is; however, I saw waves like these as a little girl living on what was then a deserted Sunset Beach in 1952. I was four years old. We would sit in a hammock and watch huge fish slide down the waves. We would also see ships pass by. My dad rented an old plantation house that was just over the dunes. The waves would dig huge swimming pools in the sand, about 3’ deep, and we’d swim in them until the tide came back in. Hawaii was not yet a state, or much of a tourist spot…so it was mostly unspoiled at the time…it was paradise….there were REAL luaus held by native families…that pork cooked under hot rocks was so sweet! We were a Navy family. My dad was based there after Korea. He also served WWII. Thanks for the great video.

Hey bro's!! Long time surfer here. Traveled from CA to HI, AU, NZ, Bali and many reef breaks. Wondering what size boards are we riding is this. Nathan and the boys look like 8' maybe a bit smaller but there are some 9' ++ boards out there. Anyone got an eye on size. Just for shits n giggles and perspective. Looks like big boards on way bigger waves than it loos on film. Thats how it always is, right? Should have been there type shit. Size of boards anyone. Nathan in particular cause his equipment is always dialed in.... Thanks Bros!!

I’m kinda still picking my jaw off the floor. It was like a 20’ wave machine, with perfect VW Bus sized barrels repeating one after another. As I watched, I kept remarking how it just couldn’t any bigger and stay perfect, and then the next wave would be bigger. Rinse, annnnd repeat. Just an epic swell. I woulda loved to have been there. I can’t handle Jaws on a big day, but this would have been magic. Trifecta of film edits: Nathan’s wave into Benji’s wave into Billy’s wave. Best freakin film I’ve seen in a while.

I was struck by the emotional maturity of these men and women who are chronologically quite young, you know? That says so much about what surfing is and what it can provide for young people in terms of mental health and spiritual centered-ness. You know, even the guys who ate shit the most were humble & balanced. And, to an individual they were right-sized after that session. Not the faintest whiff of puffiness or bragadosio. Hell, I am spiritually moved myself, just by their calmness and their show of decades of maturity & perspective. And I was in a different hemisphere watching on my phone! This is exactly why my very young neice & nephews will have surfboards, certainly before their 10th birthdays. It's like Kai Borg said in White Rhino, "it's good to be in awe of it. You know, God's creation, here and in effect".
