My parents used to rent beach houses in Surfside for the 4th of July when I was in school. Now I book Fall vacations in Surfside. It is a quiet neighborhood that allows you to rest, relax and get a great nights sleep. I have rented both beach houses and condos, it just depends on how many family and friends will be vacationing with you. If you can afford it, I recommend an ocean front rental. You can hear the ocean a few streets back, but watching the waves crash on the shore, pelicans and seagulls dive bombing in the ocean for food, and people watching from your deck or balcony cannot be beat. There are tons of restaurants, pizza, and fast food joints in Surfside, but it is a very short drive south to the Murrels Inlet and a short drive north into Myrtle Beach for more food and entertainment options....then escape back to Surfside for a quiet relaxing night of sleep. I am hoping to retire there one day.

We just got back from there yesterday. Stop the video at 2:29 and the greenish/yellow building on the right is where we stayed. Nice week, decent weather, but the ocean was cold on Friday. The pizza place by the new pier was great.

We own a condo at One Ocean Place ( you drove right by it) we love it . The people are so nice and there is so much to do. We find our location is perfect because we are within walking distance to so much, and it is quiet compared to other areas.

looks nice ans relaxed similar to our cherry grove we love so much, great video, thanks for sharing. i think the north end and south end, seem very similar, and if you are used to staying in those areas, you drive to do things, dinners, and activities. very cool. we have done both house and condo's i think its all what you want out of your vacations. most house, unless higher end, do not have pools, we did the houses when our kids were younger, to us felt more like a home setting. easier for everyone. condos later in life, kids wanted a pool, and either oceanfront or second row, cause the kids were older and could go back and forth by themselves, or go do the pool while we were on the beach. but feel most important thing, always get something that has laundry. and full kitchen, unless you eat out most or all meals.

We have been vacationing in Myrtle beach for about 15 years now. We absolutely love it. The only place we have stayed is the Compass Cove. Very nice resort! In fact we will be there the middle of next month. Can’t wait 🌞🏖

My wife and I were thinking about staying at Surfside, but decided to return to North Myrtle Beach again this year. The Cherry Grove area is quiet enough and exciting enough for two seniors such as us. We have stayed at several different places, mainly the Wyndham Towers on the Grove. This year we're staying at a Condo with other family members. Daughter's, Son-in laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren and looking forward to meeting family. Carmen, thank you so very much for all your Myrtle Beach videos no matter what area you filmed all very helpful for us. We can't forget Brian I'm sure he helps you as well. Again thank you. We usually stay in Garden City in a condo at Marshside Inn. We’ve stayed in Myrtle Beach and Pawley’s Island but I prefer Garden City. In fact we’re headed there in 3 weeks. Can’t wait since we missed last summer.

Thank you for this!! When did Surfside have it's own pier? My former (in high school and college) step dad's family had a rental on Melody in SB, so that is where we always stayed. We would go to SB during the day and I remember walking to Sam's Corner/GCB pier at night and it didn't feel terribly far. I prefer South Myrtle (SB, GCB, Georgetown) and have only stayed in Myrtle Beach once. It was an ocean front hotel. We had a balcony. That was almost 20 years ago in that time between getting married and having kids, so it was nice to experience that, being ocean front and hearing the waves but not necessarily something that I would insist on. I have friends who prefer North Myrtle. That's what is great, the GS has something for everyone.

Glad you enjoyed it! The Surfside pier was built in 1953. It was heavily damaged during hurricane Matthew recently but they have rebuilt it again. Yes you’re right the grand Strand definitely has something for everyone!

@@CarmenandBrian Interesting about the Pier in Surfside. I think my first trip was in 1993 and my last (at that house) was in 1999, and the only Pier's were in Garden City and the big one in Myrtle (where the Pavilion was, The *Magic* Attic, The Gay Dolphin gift store). From the beach in Surfside (right at Melody Lane) we could see the Garden City pier and while I wasn't fishing off the Pier, I did always enjoy the music and people watching!

Surfside is great, less traffic but you still have quick access to whatever you are looking for. Plenty of room on the beach as well.

Thanks for the video! We're headed to Murrells Inlet in a few weeks. We never stay that far south, but wanted to try it. We always stay in the northern section of Myrtle Beach. We booked an airbnb for this visit (which is very reasonable compared to the rising rates of condos and resorts in the area).

We have been going to Surfside for a few years, I recommend trying out Oceanside village. It’s a golf cart community. Most rentals provide a golf cart, they also have their own parking area at the beach which is right across the street. They have indoor and outdoor pools plus a lot of activities. They have security which I really like.

The only place I ever stayed at was BR resort , I actually bought a condo there 12 years ago and it’s ocean front , it’s just a studio but I love love it . I only now come down for the winters , January through April then I go back home , I don’t like the summers down here , way to crowed for my liking . But what I really love ( can’t afford I’m sure) is the gated Community in Garden city the point WOW it’s just beautiful at the point and those homes OMG , Heaven on Earth . Also love Pawleys Island . Love anything ocean front ♥️♥️

Haven’t stayed at either. Have always been in downtown Myrtle Beach and went to surfside to eat at a couple restaurants. We have stayed at Auqa beach inn. And didn’t have any complaints about it.
