Should have mentioned that surge protectors only lasts a number of times before it just becomes a normal plug. 100volt surge protectors protect surges amounting to 100 volts then it becomes useless. They are a waste of money. AVR's lasts pretty much for a lifetime and UPS lasts until the batteries in them goes bad, afterwards they pretty much act as an AVR...but you can always replace the batteries in a UPS.

Hello. Are you still available for a few questions? This video is 3 yrs old. Not sure if you are still up. This is the deal. I live in Colombia. I had 2 expensive Samsung TV go out before 3 years. One just made it to 2 years. Warranty is done then the TV won't work. My fiend said he had the same issue and believe its the fact that the power goes out too often and the surge damage the TV. However, I do use the cheaper white surge protectors. My fridge and washer are fine and working over 5 years. He told me to get an UPS. I got the Powerwest Micornet 750. Here is the question. First, did I even need the UPS? Second the power went out about 7 times last month. I noticed the TV went off suddenly when the power went off.
@AlexPCTech10 ай бұрын
To answer your question, I have never heard of the brand Powerwest, thats why I am not sure if it is a reliable UPS as you stated that the TV went off even though it's plugged in the UPS. My suspicion is the UPS is not doing it's job. UPS' has built in surge protectors. So, in case your UPS is not working, the Surge protector doesn't as well. The need for a UPS for me is really for computers when you don't want to loose data or on servers to properly mitigate damage due to sudden power loss. This can also be applied to household appliances, Yes. But in my opinion is it a necessity? No, a good surge protector from a reputable brand is what we use in the Philippines and here also in the UAE.

I hv two Prolink 1200va UPS that are line interactive, meaning they hv a built-in AVR. They're for my PC & broadband modem + router, which are critical since I now work from home. What I discovered is that whenever there's a surge or sag, both units would automatically switch to battery power to continue providing clean, stable power. Unfortunately that triggers a built-in alarm that can't be switched off. The beeping racket was unbearable esp when trying to hold Zoom meetings. After talking to Prolink technicians, I plugged each Prolink 1200va UPS to an APC Line-R 1500va AVR. So I ended up having both UPS and AVR units.

Hi Sir Alex, is it safe to use a normal extension wire on my computer? I don’t have much knowledge about whether it’s safe or not ‘cuz I’ve been using the extension wire that I bought on my pc for years without knowing if it’s safe or not.

Okay I have a stream set up with gaming/streaming pc, ps5, lights, mic, mixer, monitors, webcams, etc. Lots of electronic equipment all being used at once for long periods of time. My area doesn't get power outages often, thunderstorms are more common but honestly still not often. What should I use that can handle that type of hardcore power usage that can handle it while protecting all my gear? I would really appreciate your input. I watched the whole video but I'm still unsure.
@AlexPCTech3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. First I would go with a surge protector then maybe two UPS for all of the equipments but that will depend on the capacity of the UPS against the power draw of each device. As for the avr, in the long run maybe go for one for the CPU

I saw on another yt video that some PSU already have an AVR. I was also on a tight budget after building my pc. I was wondering if I could just buy a surge protector power strip for now and then buy an AVR later? I have a secure AVR ($5) which I am a bit skeptical about. I alsop have a mitsushi T04 power surge protector but am thinking of buying panther or royu brand.

Hi! Do you absolutely need a servo avr or will a relay type avr from a reputable brand like APC do for a gaming pc?
@AlexPCTech2 жыл бұрын
yes. In my opinion, as I do a lot of things with my pc and I cannot afford a downtime, a reputable brand is the way to go.

@@AlexPCTech I see, so a relay type from APC won't be good enough?
@AlexPCTech2 жыл бұрын
@@reyjustine7116 Thank you for your question, I could'nt really see the application of a relay as for my understanding, a relay relays the entire current to another switch, whereas an AVR will be controlling the current that is coming in. Im not an EE by the way so chances are there are variations of a relay that might be similar to how an avr handles current.
