1st time here & OMG!!! How in the world were you parents able to do this... props to you! The hospital did amazing at prepping the kids. As a person with complex disabilities needing many surgeries and medical procedures, I understand how traumatic these things can be, whether big or small. Sometimes I think it is harder when you get older. Little kids just have to go through the motions, but once kids understand, your thinking can get in the way. I'm going to keep watching.

I just got my tonsils out January 2022. I'm 62 years old. Glad yours got done this young. My ear pain alone, on a scale of 1-10, was a 500. oxycodone did not help the pain at all. So doctor prescribed hydrocodone. Pain went from 500 to 10.

I don't know if it is contagious, but when I was a preteen, my steps brother and my sister had to have theirs out. I didn't, because the docs said that it was more genetic, and inherited than a virus. My siblings had a deformity that caused them to have constant ear and sinus infections, while I rarely got sick. So, yes, I can understand all the kids getting them removed, especially if it's going to stop the allergies, and constant infections in the future.

I had my tonsils out as an adult. But recently, I was hospitalized with strep, a peritonsillar abscess, and sepsis. You were wise to get them out now. In spite of having no tonsils, my throat swelled on one side so badly that they considered incubating me. This hit me suddenly. I was that sick in about 14 hours from onset of symptoms.
@britannia55 Жыл бұрын
Unless you are having trouble with your tonsils you shouldn’t have them removed as the are there to protect you against infections, it’s something that doctors tell you, especially in America were they get a cut of your insurance money, it’s unheard of to take all the children in the family tonsils out at the same time.

Had tonsils out when I was 4yo - 80 years ago. Can still remember the experience. Adult hospital. Traveled out of state with parents to another state where my cousin who was a doctor lived. Was supposed to be same day but a snow storm resulted in an overnight stay in an adult ward. I thought my parents abandoned me. Screamed all night. Did get ice cream. Then to my aunt's with my parents. Once there accidentally slammed the ice box door on my finger. What a nightmare. Only other things I remember from that trip was getting to get my hair done in banana curls, something I loved and the smell of the hand cream my aunt' s neighbor let me try. I still have pleasant memories of that scent. Glad they did it when I was young. I probably ruined the hospital stay of the other patients on that ward.

He was afraid if she got sick again it would cut off her airway! The recovers tough but so worth it! She stopped snoring she slept way better and hardly gets sick now! The Dr cut her tonsils open and said it was full of bacteria no antibiotic would have worked!!

Your kids are so brave. Breathing through the mask is a breeze BUT going through surgery at least once can be a little traumatic( fancy word lol) but speaking from experience always trust your doctors. The more time you spend with them the more they feel like family. My doctor and nurses for the hospital I go to for my leg are not kidding like family. First they were strangers and then they were friends and then finally they became family. 8th surgery soon on my leg to take the screw out wish me luck. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I’ve had many surgeries and fir my major surgeries that I’ve had like my myomectomy, hysterectomy, gall bladder removal and others I was given Versed before we left pre op so I don’t remember the mask except once when I had my bronchoscope and I wasn’t given sedation until after we were in the OR. I remember the mask and I remember waking up with them pulling the breathing tube out. I have more anxiety about pulling the tube because I usually don’t remember it but the last time I did. The tubes are for general anesthesia and I’ve had that twice last year and twilight sedation twice last year. I was also a paramedic for many years and I administered general anesthesia in the field many times so I know more than most people
