I really needed this video! I’ve been having trouble working on my pace cause I’m really slow but I see I was overthinking it! Thanks so much

Speed will come when you get down a routine which I will show you. I'm also working on a project that will help student set up their mayo stands so that when you get to your clinicals, you're a little bit more confident :)

@@SURGICALTECHGEEK that would be so helpful. My teacher said I have no sense of urgency but it’s because I don’t want to contaminate anything. When I speed up, it gets kinda sloppy

@@playwithLaurenK yes, a sense of urgency is important. I trained someone like that so it's normal. In the field, you're gonna need to be a little faster because the nurses will pressure you to count bec patient is coming. You have to establish your set up and try not to touch things more than 3x.

@@SURGICALTECHGEEK could you do a video on how to count a Balfour retractor & how to set up Mayo/back table according to where the patient is? Like the working ends? I have a test tomorrow on it & those are two things that confuse me
@SURGICALTECHGEEK3 жыл бұрын
@@playwithLaurenK ooooh good question. So my table is set up the same unless the room is backwards. I always make sure that my main stuff is next to the feet of the patient.

Nice video, in my clinicals now. This helps a ton. Still getting mixed up in my backtable organization. The nurse always starts count while I'm still organizing. It's always the power cords that get tangled on my mayo stand.

I dont put chords on mayo :) Hate chords.
