Last part of my research the surname toler has first found in Baden , where the name was anciently associated with the tribal conflicts of the area . They declared allegiances to many nobles and princess of early history, bending their influence in struggles for power and status within the region. Gabbard is Americanized form of German gobhardt . Family name gabbard is of English origin and is believed to be derived from the old French personal name “ gabaud” or “ gabbard “ which means “ god - bold “ or “ god - brave “. The surname fouch was first found in forez , former province of France , now part of the modern loire, the haute - loire and puy- de - dome department, where this illustrious family held a family seat since ancient time . I hope you like my research. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .

Look into Sir James Douglas who took Bruce's heart to Spain because Bruce had never fought against the Moors! Douglas, became surrounded by assassins at one point and while proclaiming he would follow his brave friend into battle once more threw Bruce's heart, in a small cask, into battle. Douglas, my ancestor, was cut down as the battle ensued and when all was done both Sir Douglas and Bruce were taken back to Scotland byWilliam St. Claire. Thus Brave Heart. Truth. Our family crest has a heart front and center to acknowledge this fact.
