At 7:13, that looks like a tamper. It lifts the rail on either side of the fingers, which then plunge into the ballast on either side of a tie and shake it to adjust the track. The long trailing piece is part of a photoelectric system that checks the rails for being level.

UP also changed their cabs from old cabs (1980-2005), to new and modern cabs. The reason why they changed it is because when they go long hood forward (LAF) it’s makes the engineer stress turning their chair left and right to change the throttle. So they use newer cabs which makes the engineer more comfortable to operate in the cab.

AC6000's were also used by BHP Iron Ore in Australia. Sadly, like CSX, they're now retired. They were used to pull the heaviest train in the world!

CPKC’s new scheme will only be applied to new locomotives or ones that have been in a wreck/need a rebuild and all of the specialty locomotives like KCS 4006 or CP 6644 etc will remain completely unchanged. Something like the Ex BNSF Dash 9’s will likely be the first ones to receive the new scheme.

Nice video! I caught BNSF 525 leading a manifest out of Des Moines this year. To make it rarer, the yard where the train originated at is operated by NS.

If anyone wants to come up to Minnesota, there is a train that operates on the Hinkly sub , with not one but two Dash 8’s still in ATSF colors , don’t know where the two units are right now but I know one could possibly come up my way on the Lakes sub this weekend . Don’t know if this helped anyone or not but o well :-)

It looks like there's either a laser or a laser reflector on the trolley that gadget at7:12is towing, so it's probably to make sure that it's leveled properly, like road surveyors do

*watches the part with the B40-8W's at the beginning* It's crazy how the mighty have fallen with those units from GE though: They were once hustling hot shot intermodal trains on the Santa Fe Mainline, mainly at doing speeds like say up to 70 MPH in some areas... and now just look at them: Being reduced to just switching duty/yard work.

You should visit this town named Danville Illinois Norfolk Southern crosses the CSX and on the Norfolk Southern it’s the Wabash district so you can see trains 255, and 256 CSX’s Line Also, comes out of Bedford Park Chicago so it sees intermodal and manifest traffic.

I’m still so glad we now have a BNSF B40 preserved and supposedly is gonna be repainted as a Warbonnet. Let’s hope one of their C40-8Ws can meet the same fate. I see the AC6000CWs as motive power that couldn’t reach their full potential, because they were too powerful. Plus, they look so damn cool! EMD’s SD90MACs had it worse unfortunately, although I don’t know every problem they had.

And the same for SD75M's. One unit that should be able to be save has to be 250. Reason why? That unit was the last one delivered in full Santa Fe marking, aka... Santa Fe on the Cigar Band and Santa Fe Billboard lettering on the sides, well before Santa Fe merged with BN to form today's BNSF Railway. :)

3:42 typical cn. I’ve seen so many geeps that have lazy patch and numbering jobs. For example, cn 4910 is an ex gmtx leaser, and they patched everything over in black, except the word ‘locomotive’, and then just spray painted “cn 4910” on the cab. It’s been like that for about a year.

Why does it seam like everybody has a death wish when it comes to trains? It’s also weird that crude oil train didn’t have buffer cars. Idk, maybe the tanker cars coupled to the locomotives had something in them.
