A predator without a lot of aggression will go extinct in a short time. But dogs are domesticated which means a lot more than merely tamed. Dogs bred for the pet market have a lot of their aggression bred out of them. But the idea that all dogs have no aggression is just silly. Some working dogs are bred for aggression and can not be used as pets. As you mentioned, dogs were bred from wolves, a very predatory animal given to social and hunting aggression. The social aggression is somewhat controlled by the needs of the pack but it is still there. Dogs, like humans, have individual personalities, with different levels of fear and aggression. I love my dogs through and through but I do not forget that they are dummies with their own instinctive behaviours.

It’s the opposite for me, I haven’t met a single German shepherd that has been as friendly as other dogs, I do believe that this is because of their owners because a lot of the people where I live that get these dogs aren’t like your typical family, and I was once bitten by one, however I still love German shepherds but am a little hesitant to approach them like other dogs unless I get confident assurance from the owner of the dog

Shy dogs are usually more aggressive than outgoing, confident ones. It's often fear or insecurity that makes a dog bite - a confident dog won't snap as quickly. Also, I've grown up around well-trained GSDs and none of them ever bit anybody and they were all confident males who haven't been neutered. GSDs are the best dogs you could own.

the age difference can be a huge factor. 11 and 5 week old puppies are very different. at 11 weeks the puppies are much more mentally developed and have more distinct personalities that are much more indicative of their adult selves. you have a much better idea of what dog you're getting in the long run with an 11 week old dog than you do with a 5 week old dog.

I've known my gsd since he was 4 days old. Saw him almost everyday. Always touched his ears... He was the first out of a litter of 10 to have pointed ears, now at 14 weeks he has massive pointy bat ears. I've never heard that touching ears damages them, certainly didn't with mine! Or the other 9!

SOOO true, I've only had one lab in my whole life and she was the sweatiest little thing! Her sister (the runt of the litter) was, and still is annoying af tho. Anyways... German shepherds are great families dogs. They are usually nice dogs unless they catch you doing something suspicious, or you train them to be mean and vicious. Just as any ouher breed would be. If you don't like barking when someone opens the door then don't get them because they are GREAT guard dogs and will alert you. They are actually quite patient. Like if a baby was smacking them in the face they still don't get violent. They are also playful and just fun to be around. Usually at night if you let them sleep in your room they will sleep at the end of the bed by your feet or next to the door just waiting and listening for intruders. If you are being attacked in any way (except verbally) that German Shepherd won't hesitate to intrude and attack. That's why when I move out and get 3 dogs I'm going to teach them to attack but it will be in a different language so the attacker won't even see it coming. >:D

SOMEONE TAKE THIS CHANNEL DOWN NOW!!! this lady has no idea about what she’s talking about. She called the GSD aggressive dogs. The dog itself is not an aggressive breed they love to be around family as the “protector” and they are known to need a master to give work and instruction. This lady obviously has no information about the dogs she’s looking at. My opinion is that you should not get any animal that you have none to little information about. Always ALWAYS do research on a animal if you want one. It will make you and the animal have a good and peaceful life! And she wanted the dog because it was “fluffy” does she not know that fluffy dogs she’d a ton! She rly needs to look things up. This video just aggravated me. Please have people who know what they are talking about on a channel. Thankyou.

They both are wonderful dogs but i truly prefer german shepherds. German shepherds are amazing dogs and im sure you know not much of them thats why you prefer labs. And i know most people will be like, "i do know everything about gsd...blah blah blah." hopefully you wont say anything about that but i respect your opinion. :)
