Yes the yellow was pretty not so many roots, we will see how they do and they will be right with us for some time. Yes they are from wine bottles, and cork is quite fine for orchids, and sure helps with air space. Love Carolyn

I love these smaller novelty Phals. I have three now. Two are doing good . One is a very young one. But it seems to be growing good roots. I have layer the second and third one with spagnium and bark.the first one I removes moss and it is totally in bark now. They bloom several times during year. Sometimes on same spike. Hi Carolyn....You lucky girl...Wow! three new plants to add to your orchid family...I too always repot orchids right away...I don't wait... I didn't order any orchids this spring...they are just getting so pricey and by the time you pay shipping...! BUT I did find a lovely orange colored NOID oncidium at a nursery in Vernon. It is a good combination , but for me I will be slowly picking it out, and hoping the glass will add the extra humidity missing when in small orchid pots Love Carolyn

Wow, Carolyn,what a beautiful gift. That Stuartiana is on my list but must wait a bit. It looks like that yellow flower is very delicate 💛....i wouldn't worry about the blooms dropping ...2000 miles and all. Remember ,alot of Roehampton Orchids are species or complex hybrids not like the grocery store phals that have been bred to be easy to grow for the average grower. Good luck with your new Orchids

One of my kids gave me two orchids for Mother’s Day. Both are white. One is full size and one is a mini. I had been wanting a white orchid. I have been letting these new ones acclimate to my environment. I really would like to repot them but I am holding myself back. I know that they have been stressed even though they look beautiful. I waited to a few months to repot my other four orchids and they did fine. I know that they are not in the type of media that I would use but the roots look healthy and they are doing fine for now. If the flowers have not dropped off by July I will repot them then as long as they continue to look good. I need to repot the minis that I got last year. I had repotted them into a 4” pot last year and they have grown so much that they need to be bumped up to a larger pot already. Your new orchids look beautiful. The roots look healthy. Some people grow with just moss and they do very well. I can’t do it because I’m not used to waiting so long to water things. Moss holds the water longer which works out better for some people. I’m just more comfortable with better drainage. I grow a lot of succulents so I guess that is just my mindset toward growing. Lots of air getting to the roots just works better for what I grow. I don’t have the confidence to grow in glass just yet. Things are going well and I am not daring enough to change what I am doing.

I Love the White Orchids , still on my top of the list of favourites. They always seem so hardy too! Sounds like you have figured out what is best for you, Big Important Thing!!! I also like roots to get some air and not any moss. I have found when removing moss slowly is easier on plant. Glass is an experiment, and I say next year this time I will know more if it is a success or not. They adjust slowly and I am hopeful Love Carolyn

Beautiful! I’m sure you can make them happy again. Some seem to sulk more than others. When I have one that’s compacted like the last one you did I always use long blunt tweezers. It helps me not break roots. Keep us updated on them please. Enjoy! Thank you for sharing! Be well.🌺🌸

Carolyn do you have a Dollar Tree near you they have glass vases not big big ones every time but they have glass containers like plain cookie jars you could use for your orchards.

Will have to check that out, we do have a dollar tree, but thrift I got 3 for $1, did not have to search further. Sometimes I will need to though as you sometimes have trouble finding the smaller sizes. Love Carolyn

Great to see the 'phal nurse' at work. Those phals are now as happy as. The sphagnum was far too compacted around their roots and you got to them just in time Carolyn. The roots can now breathe some oxygen and extract the nutrients from the bark. Thankyou again for much inspiration and enjoyable viewing, and love to you and the family.

Good morning! I just came across your channel and I'm glad to see you as well use thrifted vases. I've learned this method a few years ago from Alexander orchids YT channel, I have much better luck this way and I can see what's going on with the roots at any given time. I have not drilled holes but keep my gravel and bark loose while spritzing the medium, I have noticed narrow neck vases are not best as well as tall vases, I've been on the look out for shorter stout vases. I just had to repot 3 long necks, I came across your channel because that is what I was searching for and saw that episode 😊Thank you for all your information!❤

I ordered from the same nursery a month ago. Iwas real satisfied with packaging and the plants theirself were beautiful like yours. I tried to follow the instructions not to repot but just couldn't stand to see them in such small pots so went ahead and did it. No set back and they are doing great. Know how you feel by doing things your way. Good luck with your new babbies.

Moss with me seemed difficult either drying on top fast and staying to wet inside, not enough air, may be better with cork added, but just was troublesome Love Carolyn

I am 16 and I’ve tried to grow orchids now for four years or longer and I’ve never been successful with getting them to rebloom. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I watched so many videos on how to do everything and I’m fertilizing once a month and watering weekly and have them in a bright room where the sun don’t hit the leaves. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I hope you can help me. I repot every other year. 😊

Big Clap You are doing Excellent "Sounds Good" Main reasons for no flowers 1. Most of the time you need 2 leaves before the spike for flowers come, 2 leaves each side of monopodial stem, if on one on one side you can still get a spike under 2 leaves other side 2. During growing season they need lots of nitrogen to encourage good growth or fertilizer with high first number and last number 3. During growing season they need lots of light, to start natural growing process internally. Longer days and lots of light. Not direct sunlight but lots of reflected light is good. 4. Come fall it does help if they get a cool down in temperature of 10 degrees or so, either where they are , on a patio or an open window at night (just a crack) evenings to let cool air in.
