Thanks Robert, that was perfect. I might add that it was a corroboration between builder and leather worker. “Slickbald” Chris Andre who is world famous for his holsters and leatherwork helped me out with that design. Bill Burke, ABA Master Bladesmith helped me with the heat treatment recipe for the high carbon 52100.

Thanks for the comments on your beautiful knife. I have seen “Slickbald’s” work. It’s great to have a true leather artisan help with the design. You can always purchase great steel. The heat treatment can make or break the knife. Thanks again and have a great year.

The S-curve demonstration really showed the utility of a knife like this. Nothing better than a new tool, congrats.

Thanks. I’m sure it will take some time to figure out.

I agree. It’s hard to not be drawn to nice looking tools that work well when you also make custom items.

Great video Robert I bought the same knife from Shawn at the show. So far it is GREAT! and yes I don't need to push down as hard as my traditional head knife.

It’s a great knife. I just need to fine tune how I use it.

Might have to look at one of these, Robert. I have been in the market for a half head-style knife and this might fit the bill. Thanks for the review.

Knife looks really nice! I prefer a head knife with a traditional shape myself. I also have two of those Japanese skiving knifes like you showed. They are really more versatile then just for skiving. I use mine all the time for cutting leather, notching, trimming, etc. In most maker videos from Japanese/Chinese makers, they only use the skiver and a a break away utility knife to cut with. Just be VERY careful with that new knife. NEVER get your fingers in front of that blade, always behind it. It only takes one slip to lose fingers. I always cut with mine on a cutting mat or a cutting board (plastic). I don't skive with my head knives but if I did, it would be on glass or stone. I just think they are too "big" for skiving, and prefer smaller tools for that. Too easy to take off too much flesh with a rounded knife IMO. Enjoy the new knife!

Very nice tool. Pricey tool! Any idea how long it takes for him to make the knife ? That’s cool. I am sure it is very high quality

@@InMyBusyLittleShop I enjoy watching you create. Leather is a very satisfying material. As you may know my youngest plays with leather She has many interests so she bounces from one thing to another quite rapidly.

Unique knife. Don’t get me wrong here Robert. But reminds me of a pizza cutting knife. Not a rolling blade type, but a solid blade with a half moon sorta shape. I understand how it’s used. Have a good day. 👋👋
