Although Rolo is a sweetheart, girls ares so much easier to potty train. Boys will always want to lift their legs on your furniture until you train them not too. The best thing is to do, is let him outside every 30 minutes until he gets the hang of knowing that’s where he goes to Wee & poo. Congratulations being a fur baby is a big commitment and also rewarding. It’s awesome that Rolo was able to go to amazing owners as I know you two will spoil and love him to pieces. P.s I was going to name one of my dogs Rolo but instead I went with Rollin. I love love the make you want with, it suits him! Much love all the way from Arizona USA 🇺🇸

My friend has a dachshund, they are working dogs and people forget that and treat them like babies but just a heads up they can become very reactive to other dogs and people if they’re not exposed to dogs and people a lot when they’re puppies (I would say socialise, but that implies meeting every dog and every person, but if you do that they may develop reactivity due to frustration of not being able to meet everyone and everything when they’re older) but good luck! They are sweet dogs when they are loved but also have their breed specific instincts fulfilled- they like to tunnel and dig, so you can get him a little tunnel or a sandpit and hide some toys in there for him to let those instincts be fulfilled. I haven’t finished the video yet so sorry if I’ve repeated anything you’ve already said and I haven’t seen him yet but I already know he is the most handsome little guy (I’m assuming he’s a boy sorry if I’ve misgendered 😂) Ps if he’s not neutered yet, do it when he’s fully grown if you do plan on it, because they’re prone to hip dysplasia so you want those joints and bones fully developed. Finished the video now and he looks just like my friends Arlo, he’s half mini and half standard, so rollo might have some more growing to do 😯

Please be careful with the dachshund. They’re prone to have slipped disc issues which basically means spinal issues

So for Rolo: with his ears, you’ll need ear cleaner for if they get bad, which they are prone to with those flappy ears, especially at bath time. Look out for head shaking and the obvious scratching them. I always have to put ear cleaner in my Shih tzus ears after every bath. Dachshunds have those long bodies, so careful about him twisting. Maybe get him steps or a ramp for couches and beds. Try reduce him jumping. My lady has a long body too and I have steps for her - not that she uses them. I have a pouffe thing she jumps up and down off the bed, so it’s saving her joints a bit anyways. She’s turning 8 in November, so the steps will come in to use when she’s a bit older. Going to get her CBD oil for her joints aswell. Prevention is key 🐶

You can put cotton balls in his ears so the water doesn’t get in them when they get a bath. If they get water in their ears they can get infected. Just some advice from a dog mama ❤️

The Weiner dog is the best - I currently have two now, but let me warn you that with their long back and they’re prone to spine issues which can be super expensive. Please do not pick up Rolo like any other dog . You need to do some research on this breed so you can have the best experience ever. Also please no stairs that a huge mistake. Best of luck

Dachshunds are amazing and spicy! Hard to train but so funny. Sadly their health is pretty bad. They can't be picked up and walk stairs. A slipped disc happens very easily with them. But when properly cared for, amazing dogs.

Congratulations!! I’ve had many dogs and trained them, the number one is to treat them as a regular dog not just a small one and be consistent! I highly recommend videos and training courses. These type of dogs have energy!! They can be calm but I know you guys have this with how great the other dogs have been! (: super excited for your new addition ❤
