SURPRISED to Find These at This OVERPRICED THRIFT STORE

I went sourcing last night and found out that the majority of the staff at my favorite Goodwill quit, and now the cashiers are also responsible for stocking the shelves because they don’t have anyone working in the back anymore. There’s also no pricer anymore, so no more red tag items. I found a $400 set of pans for $4 each. Last month those would have been $24.99 each. The staff that’s left loves me, and I was filming and they kept bringing me stuff that they thought was good for me to resell.

Oh interesting! Definitely a trade off since you had such a great relationship with the old staff, but the prices are lower now. Hopefully you can slowly build good relationships with the new staff members!

When the finds are hitting, it’s a great feeling! Don’t skip out on those smaller sizes. I’m a small guy myself (size 28) and sometimes it’s hard to find pants that fit on the second hand market because no one wants to pick them up.

I’ve found some of my best thrift finds at overpriced stores. Fewer eyes to catch items but at the cost of maybe more spent time for fewer items. So depends on how you value your time and the profit they may give. I find myself also looking at items that had done well in the past with prices and found them not so later, and not just clothing. Keep confident in what you are doing and pick up what you feel comfortable with while checking those items that may have a higher acquisition cost with quick sales and you will be fine. From experience, sudden price and demand changes do happen, and they don’t need to go negative, just watch your exposure. Keep at it, smile, and thrive

Thanks! Definitely do everything I can to make the thrift store employees' lives easier. This one actually asks (overhead announcements) and prefers its shoppers to leave the empty hangers on the racks in the aisles!

Oh gosh, our stores yell at us and ask us at the register where our hangers are. I take mine off but put them on the racks, it also helps mark the racks so I know if a new one snuck out or not :-)

With running part-time, are you stressing to list everyday to feed the Ebay algo or does frequent-ish listing throughout the week yield the same results for you?

I definitely notice my eBay store gets more traffic and sales when I list every day. I try to list a couple of items a day, but realistically I miss a few days here and there.

Josh do you have interest in going to yard sales or is the thrift store your best sourcing option? I like to sell the same types of items as you and wanted to really try yard sales this year and it’s been awful.

I haven’t been including garage sales for sourcing so far. I felt the same way with yard sales, as in most of them were not great for the items I was looking for. I feel like I have to pay up more at thrift stores, but I have better luck finding items I want to buy.
