If that's the 4L60's they all go out at 150,000ish-200,000. They were out up until 2013. If it's the 6 speed they do a lil better. I noticed all the service lights on the instrument cluster too.

My 2012 Sierra, the door handle did same thing ! The 6L80 Trans is not as good as the 6L90 ! Only problem with the 5.3 is the AFM system. If the engine doesn't tik change the oil every 3500 miles . Screw what the manual says

i hope it treats you both well. That is a lot of miles. The 5.3 is probably fine. It's the 4L60E trans... I have not had the best luck with those. I've done much better with the larger drive trains, 6.0 and the 4L80E trans.

Make some videos on doing some preventive maintenance on it. Oil pressure switch, gaskets, etc. stuff that’s typical to go out on those motors and relatively easy to do. Can’t wait to see what gets done to it!

That's awesome she got a 2012 Tahoe. I have a 2012 Silverado 1500, and it's a great truck. I bet it has the same all-aluminum 5.3L LC9 and 6L80 engine and transmission as my truck. I love the GMT900 platform.
