Hey David!!!! :D I know you probably won't read this but I (unwittingly) joined the Sugar glider community here on youtube when I went and got mine. Just a couple of things if you actually bought that guy. They need to be kept in groups of two or more. Having only one sugar glider is like putting a human in solitary confinement. They have complex languages with each other. They live in groups in the wild. It is very cruel to have only one, and I question the reputability of the person you bought it from (not you of course, you're my dad). To build on this, I know you said that you could give it attention to keep it from getting depressed. Their depression is serious (they actually will self harm). Sugar gliders are nocturnal. They sleep in little pouches during the day and are extremely active when we sleep. Unless you can stay up all night, and crawl into a pocket-sized pouch to cuddle with them, you can't give them the level of attention necessary. You would have to literally be a sugar glider. Anyways, love your stuff dude. Hate to be "that guy." Just hope you were up-playing the "impulse buy" for the vlog. I imagine that 99% of people wouldn't actually want one if they knew about them. Please upvote this so he can see guys

Exactly!! Sugar gliders like all animals have specific needs and if they don't have the proper information on how to care for them it's not going to turn out well. The fact that they keep calling it a flying squirrel instead of a sugar glider is a bit worrisome to me as both animals have different needs. I'm sure that it'll turn out okay and that Gabbie will do some research so she can properly care for him!

Willow Burger Yup! I found all this out the hard way when I had my Sugar Glider, Stitch. I bought him on my way back to California from Texas, not knowing they were illegal here or that they should be bought in pairs. You'd think the pet store would have told me that when I bought him. When he got sick one winter when I was deployed, my ex fiance called the vet and that's when we found out the hard way that they wouldn't even treat him. We found a good home for him back in Texas, but unfortunately he didn't survive long enough for us to arrange a way to get him there when I got back in country.

These animals should not be someone's pet. Sugar Gliders are nocturnal so they don't want to be awake during the day & are awake from around dusk until dawn depending on how successful their night's food finding mission is. They are easily distressed and require a lot of attention and have specific dietary needs if you want them to be healthy and happy. And, because they are a native (protected) species of Australia they would normally eat from Australian plants/food sources which may not be readily available in the USA. All of these sugar gliders have come from people who have been smuggling them out of Australia illegally and should not be kept as pets.
