If you put this intersection on google maps you can pinpoint the distance the pickup traveled and the time for said distance by comparing scenery. The pickup drove about 75 meters in 4 seconds corresponding to about 40 miles an hour. The road has 40 MPH signage. The pickup was not speeding. However if you look at the intersection on street view you can see the semi ran a stop sign and failed to yield to the pickup. The semi driver was 100% at fault and only he was at fault and caused this death.

If you have a stop sign and you pulling out results in an accident, you have some level of culpability. The standard is stop and yield to cross traffic. Don’t pull out until you *know* it’s safe. ⚠️NOT FOR WEAK READERS ⚠️ The truck driver failed to make a full stop at the stop sign and, upon noticing the approaching pickup truck, accelerated with the apparent intent of forcing the pickup truck to yield. This reckless decision not to stop as required directly led to the accident, as the truck driver’s actions obstructed the right of way. The failure to stop at the designated stop sign set off a chain of events that ultimately resulted in the collision.

@@ronj9933 Call me crazy but I think a crash like this at 60mph+ would look a lot worse. I think he hit him at doing around 40 full on without braking. Also the road is wet too. No way I see the pickup "going at a very high rate of speed".. I've seen plenty crash videos with people actually speeding.
@onceuponatimeonearth5 күн бұрын
@@ronj9933 If you put this intersection on google maps you can pinpoint the distance the pickup traveled and the time for said distance by comparing scenery.
@matthewgaines102 күн бұрын
Seems like both parties have some blame. The truck driver failed to yield the right of way to the pickup. He failed to ensure he could pull out safely. The pickup truck was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to stop.
@ronbennett80268 күн бұрын
IMO, this is the Publix truck drivers fault. This is where the Publix distibution whse is located. Hundreds of Publix trucks turn left onto MG Drive every day here. There is no visible obstructions when looking west (left) on M.G. Drive while turning west (left) at NW Miami Court. Regardless of whether the guy in the pick-up was speeding, the Publix driver pulled out when the PU driver had the ROW. This wreck will cost Publix $$$. It will be settled out of court. Publix driver should've immediately been tested for drugs and/or alcohol too.

I hate to say this because I'm a commercial driver myself...but looks like that rig didn't make a complete stop...did a rolling stop...that's probably gonna cost him...And it looks like the pickup driver was speeding...When you have two people not doing exactly what they should be doing accidents happen. Of coarse neither thought it would happen..but that's why you always need to do the correct thing because someone else may not be doing the correct thing. Had the semi driver came to a complete stop and counted to 3 as most of us know to do...he would've still been stopped when the speeding truck came through..and if the pickup was doing the speed limit, he would've had time to avoid the semi most likely. Just unfortunate

Unless the pick up had a stop sign or light, it’s the semis fault for pulling out into traffic, whether the pick up as speeding or not. The semi driver should understand that it takes quite some time for a semi to make a turn from a compete stop, especially loaded.

Any big rig turning onto a street is at fault they must yield to oncoming traffic being the pickup truck was ON COMING the big rig was completely at fault. It is not the pick up trucks job to yield . Yes it would’ve been ideal but they had the right of way. Why would u yield when u have the right of way. Why would u slow down if u have the right of way and no one was infront until a big rig decided to turn even though they saw the head lights . Why was the big rig in a rush? Most of those trucks have goods so why rush to damage them

So I see and frame 127 where they are removing the body because it's on the stretcher. Why did they switch out the tractor. For a vehicle that only moves trailers around in the distribution yard. Cuz that's a different tractor that's hooked to the trailer at 1:27 then the tractor that was pulling the trailer through the intersection. The original was a Freightliner. That's not a Freightliner in Pleasanton has one drive axle. The other one had two.
