Survey design involves the collection of quantitative data through structured questioning (primary data). A suitable strategy when the research objective is to describe a problem or situation or to test a certain theory. It requires a large number of variables and a large number of respondents.
It enables you to generalize the research outcome to a broader context, which contributes to the external validity.
What is the nature of surveys?
Larger number of observations
Extensive data generation (Collection of data through questionnaire)
More breadth than depth
Random sampling (To avoid bias)
Relationship between variables
Remote closed data generation
Requires quantitative data and analysis
The goal of this lecture is to enhance your capacity to conceptualize and design the questionnaires.
