Excuse me, but is recording measurements with a pencil on paper - is this modern underground topographic survey? It seemed to me that tablets (smartphones) and topo programs, such as TopoDroid, have long existed for this.

Thank you for posting this. Can one transfer the survey data to a tablet for sketching whilst in cave? Does Wind Cave accept the survey data CSV files without transfering it their standard paper survey notes? Do you prefer this BRIC4 system to the Disto-X methodology?

Hey Roger! How are you? Don’t be a stranger. Yes, the BRIC4 can transfer data wirelessly to TopoDroid and there are efforts to make it compatible with other apps. We’re still recording the data and sketching on paper at Wind. It works more-or-less the same as a Disto-X2. I’ll be doing a full video review soon.

Hi there! How are you solving the distance angle correction using the BRIC4? They recommend me to use Topo droid or similar app, but so far they don't have the option to show the flat horizontal distance on screen. Cheers!

For now the shortened horizontal length for steeper angle shots above 20 degrees are determined the old-fashioned way, i.e. using trig tables. I suspect adding a shortened shot length is something that may be added in a future firmware update.
