GCP's are crucial

Thats the big debate now days, how valuable are GCP's anymore. Data analysis has shown the RTK by itself is just as accurate, but to have both ensures highest accuracy.

Nice to be where you can use your skills. In North Carolina you better not let the word map be associated with you and your drone. Lawsuit big time if you aren't a license/ certified surveyor. There's a couple of cases in the courts right now. The drone businesses had to shut down their bread and butter part of the business. I've even attempted to get hired by a couple Surveying Co's. you'd be surprised at the short sweet get the F outta here.

Wording is key, I always tell people I'm not a surveyor or P.E., I do not offer calculations just collect data. From my understanding that is the crutch of the case in NC, people were offering survey grade information and calculations without being certified/licensed by the state. In the survey world there are people that go out and do the grunt work (in field activity), but are not able to certifiy any data collected. This is the same with using a drone, one can go out and collect the data, but is not legally able to offer verification of the data collected.

@@RecoveryoneDrone Everyone knows be careful what you say. Hell that just plan common sense man. The surveyors here are just upset that drones do a much more precise job and a hell of a lot quicker. You put your equipment up here to do your thing if you want to better watch out. Do a simple map if you want...better not get cought. I was taken under the wing by a couple of well known guys in the business and told don't do business in NC.

@@jcflying8763 From what I've have heard, the case is about a drone pilot that was offering Survey Grade work with calculations without being licensed in the state. I agree with the level of technology, but as always people need to learn to stay in their lane, do the work that is front of them instead of trying to circumvent an whole industry.
