Also, can you make a video ranking your trips around europe and your recommendations? Thanks!

OH MY GOODNESS I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!! (and a little jealous lol!) I stayed right by Plaza de España with a host family! I lived North West right on calle de san bernadino. You really can't go wrong in Madrid but a few places I would recommend are Malasaña (hip, good food, shopping, super cute neighborhood), Anywhere around Plaza de España or Gran Via, Lavapies was really quant, areas around Retiro Park are also lovely! I had a few friends live in Sol and loved it. I also had a few friends like close to the metro stop Moncloa and they really liked it as well!! I will definitely try to make that video! :)

Hello ! Great video ! Would you make one on the admission process? I really want to study abroad but I’m really scared & stressed about the admissions process! I greatly appreciate it
@sarawinkler12433 жыл бұрын
It is hard to speak on the admissions process! I went to SLU in the US and had a more or less automatic entry into SLU Madrid! As far as the admissions to get into SLU in general, your college essay is the most important! But don't be too stressed about it! Just apply!
@Ana_dee4 күн бұрын
Do you mind if I ask how the admissions process was? Like is it hard to get in? Do you interview? Letters of recommendation, CV, and how long did it take to get accepted?

Great video, i am going to study abroad in Madrid next year. I have one question regarding the telephone subscription - which did you choose with SIM card etc.
@sarawinkler12433 жыл бұрын
So exciting! I actually did not get a SIM card because my phone was still locked and I couldn't switch SIM cards. I went without a new phone plan and just used WIFI the whole time. It worked but I would NOT recommend. Definitely check with your phone provider to see what international options they have and if your phone is locked or not.

Hi Sara! I’m from the Philippines but I want to study Master of Laws in Madrid this year. Is it easy to make friends there? Do you feel safe meeting new people in another country? Also, how do you cope with homesickness? ¡Muchísimas gracias! 💖
@sarawinkler12432 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria! How exciting!! I found it very easy to meet new friends in Madrid! Look through the website CityLife Madrid and they have a bunch of groups you can join where you can meet new people. Also, you will meet a lot of people through university! I went on Tinder dates in Madrid LOL so maybe not the best idea but I felt safe there! I would say if you do the CityLife Madrid thing, there are so many people in a group that it is very safe. Honestly, I was SO BUSY in Madrid that I didn't miss home that much but being with American friends helped the most. You will do great!

Hiya quick question, when you say it’s nice to be on a guest list when going out, you mean the clubs? Do you call ahead of time and have them put your name on a list or is it cause you’re a frequent visitor? Much love
@sarawinkler12433 жыл бұрын
Hi! So while I was studying abroad, there are big group chats you can join that send out information for clubs in Madrid (check out City Life Madrid). They put your name on the guest list. It is not necessary to get into the club; however, it speeds up the process significantly!

@sarawinkler12434 жыл бұрын
Hey! How exciting! So studying is not free, sadly. The campus is small but absolutely adorable and has everything you could ever need. The campus encourages you to get out into the city!! No worries on the spanish, as long as you can say hi, order something, and ask where the bathroom is, you should be good!

I go to SLU and am going to SLU madrid next semester! I’m pretty sure you need to check with your uni if the credits will transfer. I did all gen ed classes when I was at SLU Madrid. I did go to SLU so it was easy to transfer credits over. Although, there were students from Gonzaga and Vanderbilt at SLU Madrid and they had no issues transferring their credits over!

Heyyyy thankyouu so much for this video it’s really helpful but I was wondering if it’s mandatory to speak Spanish in order to study in Spain especially that I’m going to be applying for med school so I’m really lost and I don’t know what to do. And if it is substantial for me to speak Spanish then to what level of proficiency exactly?
@sarawinkler1243 Жыл бұрын
Hey there! This is a very late reply however it depends on the school and the program! My school was entirely in English so I didn't have to speak spanish at the university. Definitely ask admissions what language requirements they have!! Although I will say that speaking some level of Spanish in Madrid will go a very long way when navigating.

The campus has residences that it partners with where college kids live. It isn't a "SLU residence" and it isn't on campus. The campus is really three different buildings that are spread out over a block ish.
