I just used this to make my bow string for a Hungarian traditional recurve. My bow is rated for 40lb. Good knot.

Yup. Everything you said. One of my favorite knots. But, when you say that it doesn't work for a hammock application, because it slips, try this: Once you make the Bowstring Loop, attach it to your post by reeving a "Loop-Version Cow Hitch" around the post. If you want to do the same on the other end, instead of reeving, you'll need to first put your Overhand on the line, then THREAD a Cow Hitch around your post, and finally finish off the Bowstring Loop. Get it? The Loop-Version Cow Hitch made with a Bowstring Loop will offer a better grip--at the cost of a little adjusting convenience; but, for a hammock application, that shouldn't be a problem.

+The Veneficus heyy im just wondering does it slip on your bow ?
@wennethicus52128 жыл бұрын
Ha ha. I have no idea it snapped as soon as I pulled it. But that's a problem with the string I was using. In a few weeks I'll buy some proper string and make another bow in the hope that it works.

i just tried it ! it slipped without support but if you tied 2/3 knots with the leftover string and pull it tightly with pliers it works wonderfully ! ive been using it for couple of hours now.

Andrew Hadi The first few times I did it it wasn't tight enough. So I kept cutting it until the string was 4 inches shorter than the bow. Then I just bent the bow and fit the string around the notches. Then it fit perfectly.
