before my cataract surgery and lens replacement I needed my glasses to find my glasses. I literally got lost on the beach after losing my glasses in the water, I passed by my wife THREE times, she thought I was just looking around! Anyway I ALWAYS carried at least one spare set in each car and work truck as well as my everyday glasses and sunglasses... another great video, keep them coming....

I like watching(and have watched) these diff BOB/GHB/INCH/GOOD bag) vids...I dont remember ever watching a single one of them that i didnt get an idea or two from it...I didn't always go with that idea but I was glad I saw it..there are so many different situations and each one has to be altered to allow for individual skill sets,area/terrain and weather... We set a goal of,from a standing start,out the door,fully dressed and equipped to stand alone,fight,hide or run,unassisted,for 12-14 days.... Each family member has an equipment stand by the door,the woods clothes we plan on wearing(NEVER NEVER plan on wearing jeans or denim)((We use OD BDU's..avoid cammo)), a full set of Under Armour shorts and T Shirt,and boots and socks with the pack and gun/ammo load out in silicone storage sleeves right with the other gear... we work on being able to walk up to the stand,shed all usual clothes,dress,equip and get out...pretty much a standard BOB with food and extra equipment... We picked 12-14 days because,at the start,we issued a full 12 meal case of MRE's to each person....as things evolved,we replaced the MRE's with lighter food stuffs... We can pretty much leave the house and go to ground most anywhere and not have to move around/be visible for a couple of weeks and let the situation thing settle down/evolve... n winter we put out long johns and the Gore-Tex outer wear with the BDU's..in summer the LJ's go in the pack and the rain suit is in a cover on the outside of the pack,like a normal backpacker rigout Our standing start/out the door goal(time) is 15 minutes....drop trou,re-dress and equip and haul butt...best Ive done with 2 teenagers in what they know is a drill is 22 minutes...if we do it enough I figure if it goes real,they will have the basics down and we will hit close to that 15 minute mark.. Ammo is the big weight/qnty variable...we settled on 300 rds rifle,100 pistol and for the scatter gunners,200 buck and 25 slug and 75 hunting shot shells...Not enough for many firefights,but plenty for one firefight or a doz or so encounters.... NOTE: A "Water Filter" is not a "Water Purifier"... The difference is a labeling issue covered by Federal Law...you can not say a "filter" is a "purifier"..lots of "sales people" dont know the difference...dont let one of them lead you down a primrose path....No FILTER is small enough to filter out a virus...just not gonna happen...so if a unit does not deactivate a virus,it CANNOT be labeled a "purifier"...Just FYI Good luck...Watch Out For Stobor

I searched for MONTHS and researched bags and bags and bags and eventually feature wise I went with the 5.11 large RUSH 72 for several reasons -- one of which was their TIER system -- you can clip their other packs onto this one with the TIER straps - so I bought the other 2 smaller bags. Now I have piggyback bags when I need to carry a lot, or smaller bags that also stand alone. I was hit by a car 2 mths ago and still cannot walk etc. That pack never had a scratch on it LOL. I looked at your DA packs also. Honestly, I think I looked at EVERY pack on the planet almost haha! Have a good weekend Lily

Great video! You gave me some ideas to include in my bag. Aside from a tactical flashlight, I'd suggest you also have a headlamp so you can use both hands to do other things and extra batteries (for both headlamp and tac light).

Great pack! It's totally true about the dragon egg. I'm a big guy (around 300 lbs) and I couldn't tell the difference between the dust and the dragon egg as far as feel goes while wearing them and the dragon egg gives you a lot more carry options because it's about 25 % bigger and has a few more external attachments. I think this would be true even as far down as about 200 lbs, as long as the person did not have narrow shoulders for that weight. I've had mine for several months and it feels like a forever backpack; like I don't ever have to think about EDC or short hike backpacks again because I've got it handled with a product that will stand up to normal wear and tear for decades.

Hi Lilly ! Nice review! I discovered Direct Action some months ago, and found that their price/quality was excellent... Regarding the back pocket, did you notice that it allows the user to stow one of the shoulder straps : it allows the user to convert this pack into a comfortable "cross-chest" single strap bag (convenient when you want to be able to flip the pack from your back to your front, for easy access... Also convenient in the city when you want to "secure" your pack from pickpockets" lol. Good job! Keep going!!
@tmaccaw7 жыл бұрын
As a result of Lilli's review I ordered the last one of this pack I could find immediately available on Amazon UK and since it came have been blown away by how well it's made and fitted out, as Lilli explained. And thanks also to Humpgear's comment I noticed today, I can now see how well designed the pack is also from the point of view of being able to stow away shoulder straps (into the top of the concealed back pocket) and belt straps (through a side slit into the bottom of the concealed back pocket). The result is a very tidy pack for the office as well which won't snag on things. So I'm eternally grateful to Lilli for drawing the pack to my attention. Like her comment, I instinctively felt after I'd used it for a day that it's probably going to be my EDC 'for the rest of my life!"

I use a 4B pencil to rub on my zips to lubricate them. It is so simple to use, because zips stick every now and then. Silicone lube gathers dust so graphite is dry and excellent.

Great looking pack. The trash bag is one of the best things to put in an EDC that many people overlook. The shemahg is also a good add on. I always carry at least 2 standard TB and one contractor trash bag in the bottom of my day pack. Have used the std TB and the shemahg many times to sit on wet stumps, logs or even the ground covered in snow. The contractor TB can be used as a small tarp shelter if needed. I am going to check out that pack of yours as my day pack is getting pretty worn out.Great review Lilly!

The one thing that I don't like about the modern rucksack is all of the plastic. I've had plastic D-rings and fasteners fail in the most unadvantagous times. I think you could probably replace the D-rings with some steel ones and this would be a realy good addition to this rucksack.

Cool pack. I especially like the handle made with para cord. That's a great idea. One less thing to pack and it functions as a handle.
@sfasr32t432tfg43etfg9 жыл бұрын
+Jerry Coon I wouldn't use the handle as para cord unless I was in seriously dire need. The way they weaved it to make it such an awesome handle is beyond my ability to recreate right now (not to say I wouldn't try if I needed to, I love the handle)
@jerrycoon45049 жыл бұрын
+blarg I think the idea there was that if you needed cordage you could unravel the handle... pretty cool idea.

Good job on the overview, especially with the "running test" at the end. Waist straps (not to be confused with weight-bearing hip belts) play an important role in stabilizing day packs when you have to be on the move (whether running, climbing or skiing, etc.), especially when loaded out. Looks like a well-designed pack.

I enjoy the videos you share. Be well and you show an example of how to live ones life well and do what makes them happy. Kudos. Be well. very nice Lilly. Thankyou for sharing. packs with that "Laser Cut" molly webbing have been catching my for a little while, I used to think it was a cheesy spec op gimmick but I get the rational side of the flat lay and slight obscure nature of it that doesn't scream "tactical". I don't normally stray away from 5.11 and J-tech, High Speed Gear or Maxpedition but that Dust and Dragon Egg are really interesting packs. So thankyou for giving an overview of it. I was really interested in seeing more than pictures and not a lot of reliable videos on it besides this one. So again, thanks, and as always, great video.

Lilly- see what you think about strapping a lightweight Fiskars 7550 hachet to the side of your pack. Unbelievable cutting power in a light weight package. Made of the best steel I have found-will easily dry shave. I keep one strapped to the right side of my pack where I can reach the lock and deploy it in a flash. Medicine for both 2 legged & 4 legged wolves.

Lilly, I like the backpack! I was just wondering, do you ever buy a duplicate of any of the gear that you use? I have found it to be frustrating when I purchase a particular item and when I eventually wear it out, I cannot find the exact replacement because they no longer make or sell that particular item. Because of this, I typically buy doubles of certain items. Your thoughts? /Dav
