Survival of the Sublime | Pixel Art Animation | Short Film

I have been wracking my brain to remember the title of a pixel art short film I saw in maybe the 2000s; it was about a bunch of friends who fought alongside each other against various enemies in a kinda hit-box style of maybe Metal Slug kinda; at one point they go to hell and some doll sprays blood all over them for massive damage, and two brothers or something swirl around each other near the end, and it has epic transitions and mini titles throughout..

...this is so stunning, how vivid and colorful the art is, how vague yet so interesting the story behind the film itself is and how the music is very much sublime. This is a stellar work of art, yet it's very uncommon, rare even to find something like this and I'm very suprised, because it's just Gorgeous. Thanks for great work! I find pixel art as one of the most innovative forms of art nowadays - a mixture of nostalgia and unlimited visual forms yet balanced by the strict palette. It is leaving just enough space for imagination - like a good book. I feel a great demand in this kind of art (and trying to learn some basics myself as well).

hey Benny! thank you for your kind words! Yeah sure, I'm pretty sure that every shot in this animation was originally drawn on a canvas that was 250x150 pixels in size. I then resized and enlarged it for the video. (scale to "nearest neighbour"). I didn't really do much preperation in pixel art, i've done a little bit before. But I've been studying art, illustration and graphics for my entire education, so i just used what i've learned about composition, lighting, colour use, block shapes, no outlines, etc. and applied it to pixel art. :)

I don't know why i only just saw this!! sorry for the really late reply. I can't exactly remember, it was probably something like that, maybe even 100x200. But when I go to export each clip as video, I scale it up (to nearest neighbour) to HD size (1080x1940 or whatever) :D

I don't think I did actually. I think all the music i used was royalty free, OR i asked to use some from some chip tune artists. I can't actually remember though. There's only 4 songs i used. The first two are royalty free chip tune tracks i found. The third one in the jungle is by ThePolarChips. But i can't remember the last song i used
