Definitely! Being able to harvest 100% frozen carcasses by hand is immensely helpful.

One way to cheese the cooking / harvesting is a trick called "shredding". Basically, you select the meat in small increments, then cancel it, you'll get a super tiny piece of meat. Since cooking is quantity over quality, a shredded deer or even bear/moose can go a LONG way for leveling

I grind archery by shooting rabbits. It eats into bow and arrow condition but levelling up that bit faster is worth it. Generally my philosophy is that it's okay to be a bit wasteful in the early to mid game as long as it improves your long term survival chances. You don't have to worry about efficiency and saving resources until much later imo.
@KaryoSentiko4 жыл бұрын
I've been doing the same, but recently had the realisation that that condition loss early on might turn out to be an irreversible problem later on, as there are only so many birch saplings in the game. So far, I rarely get beyond 50 days, so this has never been a problem for me. But when I hear about players on 500+ days, I start to wonder about how many resources could possibly be left in the world, since so many things do not respawn. Surely, a time will come when all of your arrows are broken and there is no more birch to craft replacements. There will be no food available then other than rabbits and fish, as packaged food will have been exhausted, and the rifle is likely to wear out even faster than the birch problem. It would be great if birch and maple would regrow or have random spawns over time. Not completely out of the question, I think, since animals have respawn rates.

One thing that I would recommend for a VERY late game run is to convert all revolver ammo into rifle ammo and use the rifle ammo to ONLY hunt moose and maybe bear, I say moose because moose don’t bleed.

Level 5 cooking was my primary Target. So İ did it. Before İ was eating lots of wolf meat and got parasite. Wasnt that Good experience. Now, İ dont even have second thought eating %0 condition food. İ dont even get sick when İ eat raw fish for 1 or 2 times. İn the 3rd time, u get sick ofc. My firearm, revolver and harvesting skills are level 4. But İ want to make my archery skill level 5. İ want to leave the rifle and carry more weight

Good advice, Lonely. Have you done a video on the weapons available in TLD and the benefits and weaknesses of each of them yet? If not that would be a good one to do in the future as choosing the right weapon for the right situation is a huge factor in surviving in this game.

To boost your harvesting and cooking skills start carving off a one lb piece, once you start you will see the little timer circle filling up. If you hit escape when it is just a quarter done you will carve off a 1/4 lb piece. Instead of getting 10 harvests and cooking points from a 10 lb chunk of meat, you will get 40. Fastest way to level those skills. It is tedious though for sure.
@Lonelywolfofficial5 жыл бұрын
You can do that as well, but as you said it's incredibly tedious and annoying. It's still a large gain to sit and boost with the 1.1 pound increments.

I got to level 5 archery relatively fast by liberally killing wolves. Doesn't take too many hits and it gives you freedom to move around

Howdy, Lonely. Just curious, what do you hope the devs will add in future updates, or alongside the Pleasant Valley rework? Anything from late game content, to new scenarios, to new items or wildlife, or just simple quality-of-life improvements. Been waning on my interest in TLD and I'm hoping to revive that when they release Wintermute Episode 3.
@Lonelywolfofficial5 жыл бұрын
A few quality of life improvements would be nice, but there's a few things I'd love to see the most, and probably in this order: 1) Wildlife AI complete rework, and inter-species interactions re-balance. Tuned to difficulty as well :P 2) Loot table randomization and addition of more items, both craftable and processed. 3) Greater importance on resource management and difficulty tuning for post-100 day runs, to increase difficulty in a meaningful and engaging way besides wolves = everywhere and cold = always. 4) More 'targeted' regions, I.E Forlorn Muskeg was on low visibility via fog, and treacherous terrain via thin ice. HRV was no man made shelter and extreme vertical differences. I'd love to see more 'targeted' regions that seek to fill niches as well as larger regions overall. 5) Additional wildlife 6) more late-game enhancements and difficulty tweaks 7) mod support 8) Play as the wolf and hunt a survivor :P (this won't ever happen in this version of TLD but one can dream)

@@Lonelywolfofficial Quite a list, I agree with most if not all of these. I do know there's a game where you play as a wolf trying to find a mate and raise pups. The name escapes me at the moment. Of course if you played it you'd have to change your name. :P

I'm playing wintermute on uh normal difficulty.. the campaign.. tried survival on medium and found it quite easy.. so earlier today I had around 15kg of meat on me.. was sat there when 2x wolves started running at me.. I shot them both.. still had 15kg of meat and now 5.3kg of meat per wolf.. so I got alot of meat now.. shame the frozen meat lasts a few days 🤷♂️

Well mystery lake is considered easier to play in.. according to tbe start new game the map shows this info.. I mean the mystery lake has alot of open scenery.. Cabins north left and north right.. Loads of caves.. Has antibiotic mushroom.. Visitor cabin has a work bench and is centre of the map.. Lots of beds about.. unlike the other areas.. Prey are west of the visitor cabin, so you can lay traps or go hunting there everytime.. Fishing locations, east/southeast of map.. and is also close to visitor cabin and hunting/trail cabins..

What if making fishing tackles can raise the fishing skill?
@Lonelywolfofficial4 жыл бұрын
Honestly wouldn't be a bad idea per se, would just need to be balanced. It's not so far out of concept because making arrows raises your archery skill, though IRL crafting an arrow will do zilch to improve your aim or draw or anything. So it's not an inconceivable addition to have crafting tackle raise your fishing.
