I think there’s an even bigger problem because too many so-called proper channels have gone from how to prep to fear mongering with click bait for titles just came across one today with Clickbait, claiming that in 24 hours of food deliveries will be disrupted that was three days ago, and they posted it. or another one you should buy this I don’t own it it’s an affiliate link, but you should buy it to survive. I think part of the problem there’s only so much prepping you can do or teach before you run out of ideas, and to keep those checks coming in from KZbin, It’s fear mongering now, and not a single prediction actually coming true

He does openly say in his Director’s Commentary videos which he now has made for his YT channel that every now and then he could’ve indeed walked to safety in a day or so. He was out there to make TV, not kill himself. Been prepping since the late 70's. Never been a fan of TV, so there's some names/programmes I wasn't familiar with. That so-called castle caught my eye. There's a vast difference between fortifying a position and outright building a flimsy, multi-story castle. Out here in the desert, we've got their cousins. Goofy, ramshackle 'come and take it' edifices with dry moats, spikes, you name it. That castle looked as if it would fall down if you felled one of the trees they left too close to the, um, castle. That first fellow--well, he wasn't going to take anything away from anyone. A decent watch could spot him a mile off. However, it does concern me that if things were to get THAT bad, there will be a certain amount of folks who will believe they can take from the prepared, take from those of us with a few tours under their belts. No doubt, these will be the ones with too much video game time under their very large belt and they will cause a certain amount of mayhem and damage. Reading comments on various sites, there's just way too many folks who just can't wait to get on their roof and start the lead flying. I actually don't worry about the unprepared. When it comes, they will work for cheap. It's the Basement Warriors that keep me up at nights.

I got the 5C'S survival haversack kit and a Morah Garburg knife and I have tried and tested this gear in the field for at least a couple years with no disappointments! The canteen with stainless steel cup and lid work great with the Esbit stoves or a contaned fire! Every one on TV has lies written in thier scripts they didn't even say or know about! I remember back before 2000 and Y2K a group of idiots trying to steal generators from the local power plant and didn't even have any fuel to use them! I agree about most of those guys and I saw that apology video from David Canterbury. But even if Dave lied on his application for dual survival, the fact is he is a great source of information for survival ideas. I don't agree with all of his ideas on the gear. "You have to have" from carbon steel blades to the toothpick in a SAK knife. I replaced my toothpick with a fero rod and he assumed that I don't eat in the woods so I explained to him that I don't want unused items in my swiss army knife and that I don't use toothpicks but go straight to brushing after each meal when possible. If someone has a carbon steel knife only for ease of sharpening, I get it. But if I have my knife that means I have my sheath on my pants which means I have either a fero rod or lighter on me too. I don't agree with him using the 90° spin on your knife and a rock for sparks. In my world, that 90° spine is primarily for scraping tinder for fire.

Canadian Prepper (product pusher) and all his crazy click-bate titles are pretty hilarious. I have to admit, there have been a few videos where he does break down some information well, but may be he should think of just being a video editor, instead of a salesman who dresses up and walks into some near by woods, dragging some new gear, for a product sales pitch. His lack of experience actually trying to apply any skills, or actually really using the gear he pushes, for any substantial length of time, seems so obvious to me. He could be a guy who just says he like cool new gadgets, I'd be down with that... IT just bugs me when he pretends to have so much field experience with things. I could be totally wrong, I have not researched him at all, this is all just what seems to be apparent in his videos. Having said that, at least we can all agree that his crazy video titles are hilarious, if not down-right misleading, right?

thee's more real riflemen in the US than in the entire rest of the world. You wont be up against ignorant goatherds and rice farmers. If shtf, being out and about in daylight will be suicidal. So will making noise, having a fire in daytime, or showing a normal light at night. It doestn't cost all THAT much to be prepped. A couple of semesters of full time college loans ($12,000) will do it and you only have to pass 2 of the first semester's classes to get that much money. The repayment on 12k will be less than $100 per month and you can make $50 per hour, once per week, selling your plasma. So you CAN get prepped, if you really DO want-to

There are now a lot of socalled stealth camping channels, basicly telling people to illegaly camp somewhere, or be so well hidden that if anything happens to you, they will most likely not find the body for a while. The dumb things they tell are making shelters at fallen trees, yeah what could go wrong there, or like sleeping in a gulley, yeah like water is not collecting there during a rain storm. I'm not a prepper, or a camper, but even i know a lot of that stuff is just stupid to do.

Sure he apologized because he was asked to by the studios and his agent and to save face because if he did not his carrier would be even more tarnished and all the military people that went after him on usa bushcraft forum when he was on there sorry left this out . When it comes to military titles that a is very very fine line to talk about meaning there are so many people on social media that say they were something but might of not even fired a shot . But still could of been a recon or other things . But just because people are in the military dose not mean they have survival mastery skills Even sars training parts of it are taught by an outside survivalist by the way not a military guy .

I've enjoyed this. Thanks for putting it together. There's lots of fake preppers out there. And lots of real ones. I have a neighbor here in almost rural Iowa, he's occasionally employed, his wife works full time. One day he asked me to join a prepper group with him and I said maybe. Later in the conversation I asked if he wanted me to come by and till a small garden plot in his back yard, ya' know, practice for when it is needed. He said "Not that kind of prepper." The subject has not been brought up again. I don't know what his idea of being prepared is, but I'm OK with keeping it that way. But we also have friends who decades back bought a small acreage outside town. Now they grow apples, pears, plums, grapes, hops, rhubarb and vegetables. They raise chickens and goats. They have a small shooting range on the land. He brews German beers. They work full time and in their spare time (I don't know how it fits in) they also do remodeling. When we redid two rooms they did the trim. The remodeled a house their daughter bought. They did several rooms in their house including cabinets and some furniture. He never talked about a prepper group. Now, who am I going to lend my spare generator to when there's a need. Where am I going to show up with a chain saw to help clean a mess? The couple with the guy who only sometimes is employed and won't garden or the couple that is actively investing in themselves, their skills, their land. Yah, exactly. And you know what? I've already lent my spare generator and been there with the chain saw. Wife and I, we stay busy, exercise, gardening, fishing, reloading. We can get through some times. We've been there; turned the t-shirt into a shop rag years back. And we are ready to do it again and help a few more people get through whatever the next crisis is. But I am more likely to help those who have put effort into their lives than someone who won't even garden given the time. I just came here to check up on things, get some entertainment. I don't need to see A) a list of the next ten things to get before the store is out or the creek rises. B)reviews of something (1) I either already own the substitute and I am satisfied with it (2) have already ruled out purchasing. This was a nice diversion and it made me think. Good luck to all.
