Very interesting to get this update on the story I've been watching thru your videos. Good info, thanks Jacob. Along with the names you appropriately mentioned, I'd suggest Bark River and LT Wright, too. The list would be endless. 🙂

No drama with WTG or White River Knives, my two favorites. Tops is 3rd only due to not being with the times with steels. TOPS designs are some of the best.

I've enjoyed your view of this whole debacle. I was along for the ride. I did pick up a few "in stock blades" and a few factory seconds but only 1 pre order out of 3 was delivered. Emotional attachment is gone and I started selling off what I have. As you perfectly laid it out..there is plenty of quality options out there. I loved the blades as they are nice but I would rather sell them and buy some of yours. Thanks for what you do.

I’ve been waiting on this for a while Jacob and all good and 💯 percent honest and valid points. I have a 5.1 and definitely agree with you on size and weight I don’t hardly carry mine because of the weight I usually swing towards my FOBOS tier1 BC or my WC knives Alaskan Bush Knife which is awesome as well.

Such a wild story. I was always interested in their designs but once they were on my radar, I was already hearing horror stories. Long story short, I never ended up with one but would like to snag one as a memento. Architect knives filled the void quite nicely though.

@S.Vallieres22 сағат бұрын
Hi Jacob, very nice wrap up on Survive Knives. 👍 May I ask you some questions? According to what I've found on the web, the GSO 5.1 handle is about 5.25" long which is very very similar to the ESEE 6 and the Reiff F6 handles... So, why do you find it too long? Do you feel the same concerning the ESEE 6 and the Reiff F6 handles? What do you think would be an ideal handle length for this blade size? Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors21 сағат бұрын
@S.Vallieres dang so I shipped the 5.1 off today or else I would get some side by side measurements and pictures for you. I LOVE the Reiff F6 and Esee 6 scale dimentions- It seems to me that the 5.1 handles would be at least .5" longer- but without having it in hand it could be that quite simply the contouring/ shape of the handle had more usable space with less guard. The absolutely massive choil may also play a role.
@S.Vallieres6 сағат бұрын
@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors I'm one day too late asking you this question then, but no worries meanwhile I found a review of the GSO 5.1 on BF where it's pictured alongside an ESEE 6 and a Swamp Rat Ratmandu. Anyhow, thank you very much for replying/answering and giving me your opinion on the ESEE 6 and the F6 handles. BTW, I offered myself a F4 in MagnaCut last Christmas and I'm very happy with it, broke but happy! 😅 Have a nice day Jacob!

Any thoughts on WTG knifes? FWIW a brisk half hour a day on a skierg keeps me centered in these dark months.
@joshdoddadbod4 күн бұрын
Dude WTG is the best bang for buck on the market. Vic gets the most out of any steel he uses with expert heat treats and has designs that are incredible for almost half the price of any comparable knife.
@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors3 күн бұрын
I like WTG knives but with the number of different designers they have you get a pretty broad spectrum of designs- some i love and some i hate. Overall I would say that I do wish that generally speaking they made knives with thinner edges.

Shit happens to all of us and you just have to go with the punches and there will be punches. So just do your best. I have bought several knives that you have reviewed and tested and I don't regret any of my choices. I have recently been into Eathengrow and I have found them reliable, tough and have not let me down. I know we have had coms about the Eathengrow and I respect your thoughts. I wont spend over 200 bucks on any knife they are just above my income level. ,

I bought their big 10 inch chopper when in it's first run back in 2012, it came in the mail one year later, it was beautiful yes, but with use, I felt it too heavy and blade forward.. good for just a chopper, .. the BK9 is better, handles better, chops better, and is half a pound lighter

Excellent knives, but you can get an Architect Knives knife in 3v with a very similar design to Survive Knives imho. I have a GSO 10. Excellent big knife but not a must have knife by any stretch. In fact I think the handle of my AK 6.5 is waaaay more comfortable than my GSO 10. Just my opinion.

Just a personal, different perspective from a fellow knife fanatic: I personally never got the Survive itch, never particularly liked them and never regretted not getting one once I did try one out. Very bland and boring imo, nothing wrong with simplicity, but Survive always rubbed me the wrong way, like they didn't have a soul, a personality (same vibe I get with BenchBenchmades)
