I have a theory on what happened in round 1. It looks like the vehicles are not officially delivered until you exit the car after crossing the finish line (because in round 2, that's when "slogoman delivered vehicle" pops up). So in the 1st round, despite heroics, neither player had time to get out of the car. So the tie led to the game choosing who won, such as when there is a tie in last man standing.
