Either I erased it from my memory or I never had to lose sleep whoa now that was with my son. My daughter different story...her issue was that dang binky getting lost and ending up half way across the room or under a stack of toys...which made me go HUH? I don't know how she did it, I got sleep, if you call sleeping in one hour intervals sleep. Beats getting no sleep I guess. Five days? Knowing my sense of humor I woud have asked my husband...can we exchange her for a puppy? Naw, just kidding..

Mama of 5 and 13 grandkids too. Griffin is 4 months old so he knows his days and nights now. He is getting bigger and not needing as much sleep as he did when he was a newborn.( meaning first home til about now) he’s very curious and also is in a new place. Different smells different sounds. Right now the best thing to do is feed on demand and give him lots of cuddles just for a little while until you get home at least. If he continues to do that then get him on a strict schedule. They change every couple months and you have to change with him. You guys got this and I’m sure you have lots of help. 💕💕💕

Ok I know sleep regression is real however… Overstimulated is REAL. A plane ride, lots of people, different noises (like the restaurant) even a small change in routine will throw your baby off completely. And Matt whew man you make me dizzy blogging you might be making him dizzy rocking that bassinet 😂. Expect this over tired baby stuff often. After holidays, parties, and yes during vacation. If you’re expecting it you’ll get through it just like you did. 😊 Keep smiling and laughing he’s a 🥰 cutie ❤

My youngest is 19 years old. My kids all had sleep regression. It has been a really long time, but I think taking a little nap away and moving towards a bedtime routine of bath, massage with lavender infused oil or lotion, and nursing...I believed in letting them learn to self soothe, but never letting them cry for more than 5 to 10 minutes. Praying that this is a short-term thing for you guys. You're doing great, and you will get through this!!

It could be his ears, a plane ride hurts babies ears and they don't want to lie flat as the pressure hurts in his ears. Then overtired babies fight the sleep. Try get him to sleep on you so he's not flat and sound of your heart beat will soothe him. And lots more nursing as sleep regression goes with growth spurt. Hang in there 🥰

@@MattandAbby My baby just went through sleep regression also. He’s a few weeks older than griffin. I learned it’s very important to let your baby learn to self soothe! You can look up ( I like blogs or Pinterest because it’s mothers with the experience of going through this) and find important sleeping habits. In my baby’s case he couldn’t handle any technique except crying it out- it feels devastating in the moment but it got so much better so quickly. He would get worse if I went in to reassure him I’m there and would scream harder and longer. So I got him to the point he was sleepy (try not to nurse him to sleep or about 10-15 minutes before nap or bed) and laid him down and he cried about 30 minutes and then the next time it was 10 and then 5 and then 2 or 3 minutes. It was hard and something I didn’t want to do but he had been sleeping terribly since 3.5 months to 5 months and I decided something was wrong. Just trying to be helpful here! Babies are hard but so amazing and rewarding! But being exhausted isn’t fun when you just want to spend good quality time with your baby!

4 month regression took an insane toll on things for us!!!! Mine also had her nights/days mixed up. One thing that helped us was NOT letting her take longer than a 2 hour nap, once she hit 2 hours we would calmly/gently wake her up. On top of that we wouldn’t let her sleep 1 1/2 to 2 hours before bedtime. We would play with her take her outside sing to her, do whatever we had to do to keep her as happy as we could while keeping her awake, within a few days we got her into a rhythm/routine! For us and a lot of people it happens again at 6 months!! Just some tips that helped us with the regression!!

As a moms who's breastfed at times of struggle what I did and what my lactation nurse advised was to nurse nurse nurse. It is a babies way of feeling safe and secure and grows the bond. You guys went to a new very strange place and on top of it all are exhausted. He needed comforted then more then at home. I have 4month old twins now. It's definitely harder the more kids you have. You are very lucky with how much your husband helps out. If you take anymore trips I would advise to nurse if he will.

I love how optimistic they have been about their life and travel not changing just because they had a baby, but I think they might be starting to see why most people maybe pause a lot of things when they have babies. Matt and Abby, you are great parents and you are doing the best that you know how to do, but you just can't keep doing all the things you used to when you have kids. It just isn't feasible until they get older. You will get through this. Regressions are so hard, but you got this. Give yourself grace and time to get through it. Don't try and force things and end up getting sick because you've exhausted yourselves too much.

She would cry non stop before falling asleep, she wasn’t falling asleep at her normal time, nothing would soothe her, and she stopped taking her pacifier. Honestly just keeping her up for a little longer and then rocking her to sleep would help. She wouldn’t take her bottle either. Till this day she still doesn’t want her pacifier but she is no longer in the regression!🙏🏻 You will get through this but yes have lots of patience!🙏🏻

My now 14 month old had several sleep regressions like that and they were SO HARD! Postpartum + lack of sleep really takes a toll mentally and, at the time, it felt like we would never come out of it. Looking back now, it feels like it was such a short amount of time and it makes me emotional knowing my son doesn’t need all the snuggles he did when he was a newborn. It’s so hard to enjoy in the moment, but you’ll look back on this in a few short months and miss it. But, I will say, as much as I miss him little, watching him grow and thinking of all the things I’ll be able to do with him as he gets bigger is SO MUCH FUN! Each stage is bittersweet💙

Hi, Matt and Abby! I just wanted to say, that I hear you, I SEE you, and I understand how you're feeling! I have a 3 month old son, too, and I know what you're going through. It's not easy! None of it is. But when Griffin looks up at you and smiles, and you see the love and the TRUST in his eyes, it makes all the hard times worth it. You both are great parents. Abby, I see a lot of myself in you. We care SO much and want SO bad to do things right because we love our baby so damn much and can't even fathom doing anything "wrong" for them, so we obsess on doing everything right. We see and pay attention to every single one of our babies cues and know exactly what they want when they want it. It's hard work in the beginning, but being attentive to his every need will make him more confident as time goes on. He will know to be patient and that his needs are going to be met. If that makes any sense ☺️ (I hope it does!). But it's okay to make mistakes! You have to be gentle with yourself and remind yourself that even though you were pregnant with Griffin, he's still his own person and you have to get to know him - by getting to know him, you'll learn his likes/dislikes, etc. But first you'll make mistakes - and it's okay! That's how you learn! As long as you do things with love (which I know you do!), you're never doing anything "wrong". You can't do wrong when what you're doing is done with love. So again, be gentle with yourself. You and your baby are learning together. Griffin is THRIVING! He's happy, he's healthy, he's safe, he's content, he's all the things he should be and then some. You're doing so great, being a mama comes so natural to you (like it did me). Take time for you. Don't feel guilty about taking care of YOU, girl! Whatever that may be that makes you feel good, do it. For me, I NEED to be able to shower/change my clothes daily, and I need a cup of coffee in the morning. If I get those two things, my day is guaranteed to go smoothly. If I DONY get those two things, I'm going to be crabby, lol - and baby's are great at picking up on emotions! If you're sad/anxious/feeling down, Griffin will feel that energy. If you take a few minutes each day to make YOU feel good and decrease YOUR stress, it's going to make Griffin calmer as well, because he'll be sensing and picking up on your calmness. They don't have to be big things.. just find a couple small things that you enjoy and that make you feel more like YOU, and make sure to do them, each day, and don't feel guilty about it!! I can't imagine how hard it would be sharing your lives with strangers and having to hear the nonstop opinions "you should do this" or "you shouldn't do that".. I myself couldn't do it. Even though some of the things probably sting when you read them, or rub you wrong, just remember - YOU. KNOW. BEST. Period. People can say what they think you should or shouldn't do, but YOU are the only one who knows what's BEST. Do not forget that, or lose site (sight? I don't know which one to use, lol!) of that!! Just because something was or wasn't right for someone else or their baby, does NOT mean that it is or isn't right for you and YOUR baby! After all, we are all just humans with our own unique wants and needs, no two of us are the same. Trust your gut and your heart. From one mama of a 3 month old to another, I SEE you and I FEEL what you're feeling. You're doing great. Sending you all the love and hugs!! Griffin is perfect. Seeing your videos makes me laugh, makes me cry, makes me feel all the feelings. Thank you for sharing your life with us. ♥️♥️

A huge help I recommend is babywise! It’s a book on how to make sure your baby has the best sleep. Sleep regressions are totally normal and they will continue to develop at different stages of the little ones development due to teething, illness, etc. Stay strong, caffeinated, and patient. 🎉

Honestly I don’t think it was the 4 month sleep regression… that happened to us and my baby when we’ve traveled before. They can tell when they’re in an unfamiliar place. And with all the travel and waking up early, his schedule was way out of wack. I hope he settled back into his normal sleeping routine when you got home!

I said that too. What are the odds their baby randomly starts a sleep regression the day the chose to travel. Definitely just not used to a different place and a different routine which is why he progressively slept better is because he got used to his new environment.

I remember we went through a period when our baby would only sleep in the car seat while being rocked almost violently lol. I had to have her car seat on the floor right next to our bed and the moment she made a peep or about to cry, I'd start rocking it and she would fall right back to sleep. Just had to keep doing it through the nigh but it helped! She's 8 yrs old now 🥰

Aww I absolutely love the Cordles! I thought he looked familiar in the parking lot when you showed him 😆 So sorry Griffin had a tough time. Although slight, a time change can also impact babies schedules in a huge way. Hope he adjusts soon and you can all get some much needed rest. Praying for you all and hoping Matt feels better soon!

A lot of people don’t like the idea of this (lolz), but when I breastfed my two babies, I would just nurse them to sleep in my bed and then transfer them. They liked the closeness of mama.

What I found with my 3 babies who are now 2,4 & 5 yrs old, Is that when they are under 12 months old, they don’t adjust well to holidays, new environments, any bed time routine changes or times can throw them right off and cause them not to sleep at night. They are frightened and unsure what’s going on around them. So for me, I found staying home for the first 12 months of my babies life, sticking with a strict day/night routine was the only answer to preventing sleep regressions. They still happen but less often and not as bad. (At least that worked for my 3) you guys are such good parents and doing really well through it all. Just remember these hard nights don’t last forever and it will pass quickly.

Taking care of a baby is no joke...I cried almost everyday cause my baby wouldn't sleep through the night. I would hold him and feed him the whole night while my husband snores and have a good sleep. Sometimes we get into fights and I thought the night would never end. Being a first time mom I had to struggle alone most of the time especially during the night.I even had to completely took a break from baking for 6 months. It was challenging but hey I made it and now my baby's about to be one year very soon and I'm so excited.

People recommend not travelling (flying, long road trips, staying away from home for too long) unless absolutely necessary with you little one until they are 4-9 months. It can be quite traumatic for them moving around new environments when they are quite small. I understand people don’t want to put their lives on “hold”. Lack of routine can be extremely stressing not only on the baby but also parents. Things like disruptive sleeping, sickness and even anxiety in your baby are things to be aware of when travelling. In no way am I telling you what to do, you are both incredible parents to Griffin. Just shedding some light ❤️
