What stops the snow from melting and the entire thing collapsing on him? He would be buried alive.
@makaylaforbes6719Ай бұрын
The layer of ice that builds up due to condensation freezing. Inuits lived like this in the snow for centuries
@serenityjewelАй бұрын
@@makaylaforbes6719Google says melting and freezing actually weakens a snow cave. Key points about snow cave stability: Snow quality: The snow needs to be dense and well-packed, not loose or granular, to hold its shape and support weight. Arch design: The curved ceiling of a snow cave distributes the weight of the snow across the walls, creating a natural arch that resists collapse. Wall thickness: Thick walls provide more structural support and prevent localized stress points. Proper construction: Digging the cave with a slight upward slope towards the ceiling and ensuring the entrance is not too large are important considerations. What can cause a snow cave to collapse? Poor snow conditions: Loose or wet snow, which can't support weight effectively. Improper design: A flat ceiling or uneven wall thickness can lead to localized stress and collapse. Excessive weight: Too many people or heavy gear inside the cave can put too much pressure on the structure. Temperature fluctuations: Rapid melting and refreezing can weaken the snow structure

Much of your heat will go up and out the flue hole above the stove. A few more flue pipes would allow you to close it in more and retain the heat better. Great job otherwise.
