Surviving a Snowstorm in a Van - Van Camping in Heavy Snow [Short Version]

Solo camping in a snowstorm, overnight in a classic van while the snow falls outside and freezes the sorroundings with strong winds. This is the short version of one of my favorite videos and one of the most challenging to ever make.
Drive in such conditions with the iconic Volkswagen van ins't a easy thing, but with a little bit of offroad skills and chains on the wheels, it turns out a capable offroad car.

Выжить??? Вы так это назвваете???? Вам бы к нам зимой на Крайний Север России съездить. По зимникам(временная дорога в зимний период по снегу и льду) поездить. На снегоходе покататься по бескрайнему бездорожью в - 35 - 40...кайф. Пожить в глуши в охотничем домике недельку другую. Поохотиться порыбачить. Приготовить не это магазинное а настоящее, добытое тобой мясо, рыбу. После такого отдыха смотришь на мир с присущим ему проблемами, трудностями и прочей грязью другими глазами, под другим углом, чувствуя себя отдохнувшим И телом И душой. Вот это настоящий кемпинг) И да. Видео мне понравилось. Машинка симпатичная. Добра вам.

Quarenta e cinco anos atras eu tinha uma combe igual a essa, peguei uma estrada nas montanhas do libano , tava nevando .encontrei uma corrente para camião ,imaginei que poderia instalar assim como voce fez no pneu traseiro direito. Kkkkkk era grande de mais .assim que andei ela se soltou e ficou impossivel de desmontar ela .tentei de tudo ,tudoooo. As porcas tavas travadas ,e nao deu p tirar o pneu. tive que passar a noite sentado morrendo de frio pois para variar nao parava de nevar.era uma viagem desastrosa em todas medidas possiveis. no dia seguinte ao amanhacer consegui levantar a combe com o macaco e desmontar a corrente,tudo isso em etapas nas quais eu trabalhava minutos e voltava para aquecer os pes pelo ar quente do motor.finalmente to livre,decidi andar mesmo que estrada escorregadia e perigosissima. nunca esquecerei esse dia pois havia jurado nunca voltar na vida para aquela estrada,e foi ate hoje. abs

Eu não acampo, mais siu caminhoneiro e viajo ori Chile, atravesando a cordilheira dos Andes, e sei o que é o frio, tanto do lado argentino como do chileno, claro que existem outros lugares muito mais frios, e não deixa de ser uma bela experiência, gostei do vinho CAFAYATE, ja bebi alguns dele 😅😅😅, sorte que Deus lhe acompanhe e abençoe

If you had a form of skirting to put around the bottom of your van, it would keep the cold wind from coming up under your van .. it'd be much warmer while you are parked

Get some bubblewrap for those windows! Lay it on the outside, smooth side out. Tape it down to stay. Huge loss of heat thru glass. Bubble wrap vs. reflectix allows heat gain during day.

Aaah I kinda think that tiny itty bitty stove is not big enough. You probably have to keep stoking that thing all night long in order to keep the fire going. That’s probably about the size of a 2 liter bottle of soda isn’t it? I would put one in big enough that you can load it up with enough firewood to burn all night. With that tiny little stove you’re not going to be able to get any sleep I would imagine. To each his own I guess

Creo que está en las montañas en la frontera entre el sur de Chile y Argentina. Pero parecen nuestras montanas en Appalachia del EUA. La proxima vez, estacionar donde las montañas bloquean el viento, y construir una pared de nieve alrededor el auto a sellar el espacio abajo. Muy interesante el horno de leña. Pero muy peligroso el estufo de gas. Grabó y editó el video muy bien. ¿Quisas la proxima vez un igloo de nieve?

That's not a snow storm. That's a regular Canadian snow fall. They usually last 24 hours or less, before the clouds go away.

Odnoszę wrażenie, że ten filmik został wyreżyserowany. Teren to raczej nie jakaś głusza (ogrodzone pola i pies) i dziwne, że nie szukałeś noclegu w najbliższych domach. Padał śnieg i wiał wiatr, ale temperatura nie była zdaje się jakaś ekstremalnie niska, śnieg nabierałeś gołą ręką. Poza tym gdyby było naprawdę zimno to w blaszaku byś nie przetrwał. Przez kogo zostały nakręcone sceny samochodu z zewnątrz kiedy Ty np. zbierałeś śnieg z samochodu czy do niego wchodziłeś? Takie nagrania budzą moje wątpliwości co do ich autentyczności.
