I think the main issue you ran into is only having 2 scavenger teams exploring the map, when the demo was out last time I was cruising easily around the map because I had 5 teams from the game start sweeping the buildings clean.

There is a free-to-play mobile survival game that also uses real maps called Blackout Age RPG Map Survival. It was fun when I played it a year ago

I love this concept. I want to like this so much so I'll have to see more. A big survival city builder where the "old world" buildings were all pulled from real maps like this so you could start trying to expand and turn YOUR town into a fortress or safe community. Would love to just see it more fleshed out.

The demo on steam is so disgustingly short, you can only choose 4 preset cities, and it lasts for 8 days...Having said that, it should be good whenever the hell it releases.

I highly doubt that it checks that kind of information. It might work in north-america but how can it check gunstores anywhere else properly and that would also limit good locations severely because many countries wont even allow civilians to own firearms.

if this whole ammo thing is a real issue that's gonan be a problem for me. They'll basically need to include those more archaic weapons you mentioned to even make large parts of europe playable to begin with. And honestly, I would totally love it if that's how it's gonna be. Make different parts of the world actually have different gameplay depending on culture and local laws etc.

that would be very interesting have the ease of researching non firearm weapons be inversely proportional to how common firearms are, maybe have specific unique researches for different areas of the planet (ex: plate armor and proper medieval weaponry for Europe, and extreme overkill with tanks or something for the us)

@@bookreaderman6715 keeping a tank going is VERY VERY difficult and it is high maintenence so no keep tanks and that shit out. Best you get is hand carried firearms, gunpowder....maybe pikes and crossbows etc

@@bookreaderman6715 I would give you defencive mounted machine gun as base defence though....essentially that is just a normal lmg with a modified magazine trigger. That is doable....if you can make bullets and make normal firearms you can make those with some modifications

Nah, most towns and cities has some sort of hunting/weapon store in my experience. I imagine they are significantly more scarce than in the US, though.

@@Twistedcrescendo I am sure hunting shops exist (and a quick google search confirms it) but I have never in my life seen one that sells guns. And I am in my 40s. So they'd have to be both rather rare, and out of the way? At least in the countries I have lived. edit: My hometown of 120.000+ people has zero. But one of the surrounding cities has a gun store. Travelling 30 minutes further out in any direction gets you to two more. They really are rare! edit2: I got interested and did some digging, there's between 20 and gun stores 30 in the whole country, it seems. And that amount again for "gun traders", which I assume are people who sell them without owning a shop. There are about 750 gun clubs (with very strict rules) and about 30 gun ranges in the whole country. For the game, that would mean no ammo and no guns for my survivors. :P

I agree with you on that, you should be stuck with more primitive weapons (spears an bows), firearms being an extremely rare finding and a commodity.

The problem with bows is they are hard to master since you need to hit targets hundreds of feet away but it's probably easy to hit a zombie in close range

When I first heard of this game, I was really excited it was using real map data. I am very disappointed with the delivery though. Actually, I suppose I should feel very sorry for the development team who apparently live in the most absolutely barren hovels. The idea that you need to chop down trees to convert a four story apartment building into a shelter is ludicrous. They're filled with furniture, which is made of...wait for it..._wood_. Even if they want to say that that the apartment and office buildings for some reason don't contain enough wood, single-family houses are literally LUMBER MINES. The idea that anyone would be like...we need to cut the last ten trees in the neighborhood and somehow magically turn them into usable lumber when you can recycle it from nearby houses is mad.

Considering the developers are from Poland where most single-family homes are built with bricks and or concret like most of Europe, they likely never thought about it. They probably also won't consider the standard construction material for each specific country/area.

It's a really time-management style game and you need to be on top of your game. Doing the bare minimum to meet objective requirements while grinding resources and searching locations, rushing technology best you can AND.... You actually got very lucky and found an assault rifle. Which is best used for rushing those book stores and getting that technology. It is a very hard game though.

You could make squads that didnt use pistols to conserve ammo. They use machetes instead and since you have unemployed men they could be usefull scavenging instead and assign the armed men on defense guarding the base

as someone who beat the demo I can tell you you're not going to last through the final wave at this rate. had brick walls surrounding a small compound and all guns utilized but they still almost broke through. wooden walls will not save you.

the only way to get more people is with the radiotower , bow´s and some other weapons are allso in the game but they will only be active in the finished game. what i found so far is that there allways some big waves coming over time .

Out of curiosity, are the stores and locations mirror locations also carried across from your actual city mirror or does the game just decide, "well theres a building here, Ill RNG its contents on what it used to be to something else". I know this would be cheating, but if you were looking for say - a gun store and it does actually carry over town locations, I guess you could have Google Maps open and do a search of the locations you need to find on the map :D

How can we get access to the game??? I hate only getting to play for a few days it's impossible to get to enjoy it :( Also those random lag chunks are caused by something in the advanced settings.. I never bothered to narrow it down but if you open advanced settings and turn everything down it'll get rid of it.

Do the units grow stronger as they clear out groups of zombies? Cause I think they definetly need to to help give the game some depth. It would just be a little flat and dull if they didn't level up or get stronger through battle. Edit: Your gates have a gun.. So you think you should tear down your tower? Lmao, why? Spear, maybe not. But pikes? That's where its at. Giant pointy stick with a crossbar turns any able person into an anti-cavalry and anti-zombie soldier in about 2 weeks. But yeah, how many people on planet earth have the ability to use a bow effectively right now. Not many. Guns are a LOT easier to learn, its why the crossbow was invented. But who can Make crossbows in this day and age?

1) His name is Wander, but I'm guessing Autocorrect just fucked you.... 2) Wander doesn't do Lets Plays anymore. His channel is built around spotlighting indie games (mostly bullet heavens now), and uploading a multipart series does not get him the views he needs. IIRC, this is Wander's job job, and Michelle, or "Chelle" as she's called, doesn't work, so Wander needs the views to keep the lights on and videos coming.

@@cardengixoth6878 well considering I don't define the term bullet heaven that wander "coined" as anything else than an attempt to rename a allready existing genre bullet hells. you are still one vs a full screen and they still aproach you and some shoot..aka bullet hell ( techically the bodies are bullets...genre is OLD all the way back to supernintendo atleast ). I do give credit where it is due though and yea wander don't do letsplays anymore allthough he should dip into them now and then....you know just to finish games off rather than have 200 ones with 10 hours each like a mate of mine does.
