Adriana Boga She can forgive them but keep safe from them. Unfortunately, this is what is taught and practised in too many places. I can understand and empathise with families where the actions of foolish,misguided young women bring shame their families. But killing seems to be an over reaction to this shame. God has forgiven all of us many times for our sins against Him. He has not taken our lives as punishment.But He does punish us in other ways.

@aliceallgrown8 жыл бұрын
+krollaostmedburger From what I have read, please correct me if I am wrong, it seems that many muslims believe that a woman cannot give herself in marriage. Marriage without parental consent is void and therefore any woman who marries against her parents' wishes is considered immoral, in the least, and possibly even an adulterer. Also, please correct me if I am wrong - I know there are verses in the bible which say a woman who has sex out of marriage can be stoned to death, I believe the Qu'ran may have similar verses that a woman and the man also can be killed. Please understand I do not, of course, believe this is right and would not support such behaviour in any way. However to say that this act was 'not' permitted by Islam or even encouraged, I feel is a dangerous concept. It may not be your interpretation of the religion, but it is the interpretation according to many muslims - obviously, since these laws in Pakistan exist. I simply feel it a dangerous thing to say that this act was not permitted or allowed by a religion simply because it is not the version of the religion you practice is short-sighted. Just as the Westboro Baptists are still Christian even though the majority of the Christian faith does not agree with their interpretations, I also feel that this man who tried to murder his daughter believed he was doing so with the full backing of his religion and there are clearly people who agree with him.
@shelmmii94258 жыл бұрын
+aliceallgrown Honestly, anyone who's getting married or wanting to be married to someone they can do it. As long as they have someone who is willing to be a witness to the marriage. Often times it's required that it is a older male such as a brother, uncle, father or an Imam or a preacher of some sort. If her family doesn't allow her to marry who she pleases, she is under no obligation to change her decision and should seek someone who is willing to be her "walli". Honor killings are against islam. She can marry who she chooses. A forced marriage is against Islam.
@aliceallgrown8 жыл бұрын
+Mishal Fiaz Thank you for the information and the explanation of your beliefs regarding Islam. However, as stated in my first note, I believe that to say that this is 'against Islam' when there are thousands upon thousands of people who practice and preach Islam who would disagree with you, is a dangerous concept. There are many interpretations of religion; you have explained your interpretation but this does not mean that another's interpretation is "not Islam".
@shelmmii94258 жыл бұрын
+aliceallgrown there is one rule of marriage and it is in the Quran and the Hadith's. A woman can marry who she pleases and it is something I deal with too so my interpretation isn't any different than the one from the rules of God. Men who do this to women aren't following islam. They are oppressing these women and If I lived there, which I was born there, It could happen to me. This isn't islam. This is oppression.

I believe she will be ok. I wish her and her family all the best for the future (eg.. husband, kids). Violence and honour punishments/killings against women, against anybody, needs to be stopped. @Brian Liddicoat Why is it that every time something like this happens people like you assume that it has something to do with Islam. If you knew anything about Islam then you would also know Islam strictly forbids such things. In the Arab world, before the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) daughters were buried alive by their fathers, women were treated like property and honour killings such as this were a common thing. Islam put an end to all of this. You really shouldn't bother talking about things you don't understand and do yourself a favor and read about Islam (Not your version though).

Honor killing is a cultural practice, not an islamic one.

Nabiha Moses It would be nice if these people doing these things stopped using quotes from the Quran when they do this crap then. It's not Islam is exactly helping society.

People who did this have no honor and do not deserve one.

To allow honor to come first over the love of your child is a cowardly thing to do. Her family are all spineless, pathetic cowards. They don't know what love is, I pray that she doesn't forgive her family because they will try again. She is blessed to find the love of her life though and that even with the scar she is still beautiful. I hope she gets the justice and peace she deserves.
