Species: Artificial Life Real Evolution is an evolution simulator that allows you to create, destroy, observe and tinker with life on it's never ending, harsh march of refinement! Simulated from the very first principles of evolutionary science:
Variation
Every creature is uniquely defined by its genes.
Mutation
Child creatures are slightly randomly modified versions of their parent(s).
Natural Selection
The environment affects every creature in their struggle to survive.
Observe or Guide
Whether you just want to observe, watch and study as the tree of life constructs itself from a single species, or you want to be an active influence on the development of the species in the game, the choice is up to you! Take a hands-on approach by using the nursery, an isolated area where you can tinker with the gene pool to your heart’s content. Use rovers to decide which creatures get to eat today and which ones starve! Create global catastrophes like an ice-age or a world-spanning flood to weed out the most vulnerable species. Or simply sit back and watch the life-and-death saga unfold!

You know that tree and meat efficiency mean metabolic efficiency, right? By increasing the tree efficiency, you made the creatures more likely to eat trees because the energy that they get from eating trees would be far greater than the energy given from meat. That means that trees were even _less_ likely to appear.

Note that you should make the oxygen level, food, stamina and digestive efficiency higher, specially for larger creatures. You also have a limitation on the materials, the count is on the left, and it's called "grow cost". The grow cost... Grows when volume and mass does. If you want creatures with limbs, make the limbs thin so the cost isn't really big and make the step length higher. Don't add too much junk

Breeding distance would refer to the distance in relation two species could be and still mate. So, if you put the slider all the way up, you could have a hamster and a fish mate and make offspring. This makes speciation go down because you end up with one big genetic soup rather than a bunch of seperate species, so everything basically becomes one big species.

Distance in the similarity of the genomes, not a geographical distance. It makes speciation rare (meaning creating new species of animals, with distinctive genomes, not able to crossbreed)
