And here we are, right on track for an autrocratic breakthrough.

Great video of two knowledgeable writers on fascism, wish there is more like this! Corporate media robs us of this truth.

Fascinating discussion by 2 of my favorites! Gessen's The Future is History is a must read. I loved the 3 others I read, too but that one encompasses so much. I'd also recommend listening to Gessen talk with Timothy Snyder.

Masha Gessen is so smart and gives us great insight into autocrats.

i would like to see Masha interview Bannon
@markofsaltburn2 жыл бұрын
Bannon probably has a great deal of respect for them. He wants voices like theirs to come from the centre. (“They” is such a head-twisting pronoun; I’m trying, but it’s still logistically so difficult when it still means something else).

Everything I’ve read written by Masha Gessen - I’m on Book #4, on the rise of Putin - has been a real luxury. She (they?) reminds me of Hannah Arendt SO MUCH. Maybe I have it wrong, but IMO Masha Gessen could have written, e.g., Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil. I’ll read anything she writes with pleasure … and with despair.

Agree with you. ...genius...

Please post items when they happen, not months later. This interview could have and should have been posted prior to the November elections and prior to the Trump response to his defeat, culminating in January with his rally.
@AudioPervert12 жыл бұрын
this is an amazing hack ... serving capitalism while calling out the woke idiots. Also writing books and articles and making nice money. Anand bhaiya himself serves the autocracy in many ways not so visible.. yet obvious.
@queerstars13 жыл бұрын
Great job!
@leealexander35073 жыл бұрын
What scares me most is that another attempt at autocracy could so easily happen again with with someone far more intelligent and capable. One of two things could easily have changed the outcome this time. If it hadn't been for the pandemic combined with a deep recession Trump probably would have won the election. If the oligarchs hadn't started to worry about Trump's lack of mental stability once they had gotten what they wanted from him that also could have changed the equation.

Given the narrowness of the Democrat's victory, I feel that this cannot be claimed as their Victory. The Democrats should have won by an enormous margin, given the turmoil since 2016.
@NotAPacifist8252 жыл бұрын
what scares me most is that people think that a corporatist democrat will do anything other than enable our further slide toward fascism. on the contrary, joe "nothing will fundamentally change" biden virtually guarantees it.

Kinda seeing what looks like autocratic breakthrough after he left office with laws throwing out the vote of the winning party. Very quick.
@tangobayus3 жыл бұрын
What are your thoughts about tyranny now?
@NotAPacifist8252 жыл бұрын
biden is showing himself to be a much better fascist than trump (who was only a symptom of the problem of spiraling corporatocracy). biden has twice (illegally) bombed syria, passed the largest ever military budget, and identified criticism of capitalism and prejudice toward religious ideas by citizens to be classified as domestic terrorism. this seems to be in anticipation of a backlash against continued american imperialism and the failure to address structural injustices by dropping his promises around a public health option, $15 minimum wage, jobs programs and student loan debt, among others. and don't expect any help from the now-packed supreme court, which two days ago drove a final stake through the heart of the voting rights act. this is a perfect recipe for competent fascism in the next administration and beyond. whether it is led by the clinton-obama cabal or the new confederacy of the gop will be largely irrelevant to the working class and its children, which will pay the price in blood and the loss of its few remaining freedoms.

Why is this dated March 2021 and Anand is talking about Trump being the president? Rather confused!
@LannanFoundation3 жыл бұрын
It was uploaded in March 2021 but recorded in October 2020. It goes by fast, but that date is on the poster frame. Hope that helps end the confusion! Apologies for the late posting.

@@jessicafalstein I did, but even she didn't see 1/6 coming like it did, nor deplatforming of Trump. We'd all benefit from regular analysis like the way Sarah Kendzior's Gaslit Nation keeps reassessing.
@leealexander35073 жыл бұрын
The date is the date it was posted on KZbin, not the date the interview took place. That's why you'll see interviews, comedy, music, ect. from decades ago dated very recently.

You don’t need to listen to these two to know their views on any matter. Just look at their hair and clothes. The opinions match them exactly.

Their identity is not an argument, for either them or you. Grow up and try again.

Well, the faces and the body language of Alex Jones, Steward Rhodes, Steve Bannon and Mike Pompeo are very similar: shameless, without a shred of empathy, hate driven, etc. Overall very unhealthy appearances, not those of people you would believe to think twice. So if one would believe that with such primitive prejudices could make sense or make us any wiser, there is a wide field to work on. But save your time: The Hitler regime has done a lot of work to gather that kind of “knowledge”. So, look there first.
