Hell of an attempt Tomer! The heat ain’t to joke and will kill you before you present with symptoms! You did awesome and your bride should be proud of you! Thanks for sharing your experience with us! Ride safe…

I am a 50+ rider who rides most of those trails in Baja, but never race, I am impressed with what you have done sir. Next time the only thing you wear is a pack with water, snacks and communication gear. In Baja never wear dark clothing due to the heat.

#1 planning issue for an effort like this is FUEL and HYDRATION logistics. Not the bike...the RIDER. You MUST know exactly how much water you must drink per hour. How many carbs you are taking in per hour...and you must follow through. Run two hydration packs....one with Ice Water and the other with Maurtens or similar. At every stop, you get a new one and toss off the old. You need to take in 60-70g of carbs per hour like clockwork or you are not going to make it. Drink till you have to piss on yourself.

Nice job, I just don't understand why you flew across the world to practice for baja in a jungle when the So CA desert would've been perfect. The conquer the desert you have to ride the desert

I ran the 1000 - Ensenada to La Paz - back in '89. It was in a class 9 car, though. Tough, and at the time I can't even say it was fun! But crossing the finish line was definitely one of the most satisfying highlights of my life. Nothing like overcoming adversity and pushing yourself to achieve a goal that most people will never attempt. Gotta give this guy major props. Good job, Tomer!

Could have told you he would DNF by the backpack he was wearing. That being said good effort. Takes some balls to get out there and try it.

I did 5 days of Baja Rally on a 990 then 5 days of Sonora Rally on a 450 (also at age 50) but those were stages 4-8 hours long depending on how fast you are. When you're gassed out (dehydrated) it's super tough.

How does he sit on that bike with those humongous balls?

Once you start crashing the bike starts getting really heavy. Not to mention your 30lbs of gear you are wearing. My first race I didn’t even get to race because the bike broke down. During prerunnig I broke down and walked 30 miles all night to San Felipe. 2nd time in Baja I completed two legs and we all got finisher metals despite our 6 hour mechanical problem and my two broken ribs. After that I think I’m good. Year after year the trophies make the course increasingly difficult for the bikes. Now they added a fourth race the 400 so it’s going to further exacerbate the situation. I think I’m done with that whole thing. Looking to race Best in the Desert though!

Lose the monster backpack.... Only thing on your body should be water..... If you need some stuff put it on the rear fender.... next time go to Baja a month ahead and train because its clear you havent ridden in that terrain.

Yes there are pitstops in the Dakar, if this was your attempt to make people that run the Baja feel less accomplished try again. www.dakar.com/en/espace-ccr/typical-day

i respect that tomer tried the race but he was totally unprepared ,sick just before the race, never raced in a desert before and he only had beginner level abilities on a motorcycle . not a good idea.
