as someone who has been playing pretty much exclusively modded minecraft for the last 10 years i really like where this is going. New faces in the modding scene are always great to see and if you're wondering whether to play it yourself or not just go for it! Even if you don't understand most of it at first i can assure you minecraft modpacks like skyfactory, the FTB packs, etc. are definitely worth checking out and a great place to get started since they are really easy!
