@@JohnnyJohnsonHistory My cat is intensely jealous of your cat’s fame (I think, he at least seemed intrigued). On the other hand, he’s the only cat in the county with a Catiseum, so I don’t think he’s got much of a paw to stand on.

I heard part of the reason the novel was so despised was because people were so uncomfortable with the idea that women might be SA'd by a man only to later engage in consensual relations with him for survival. It shines light on a part of the human psyche people don't like to look at.

I'm a retired cop and combat veteran. I despise rape and soldiers that don't behave. I've seen a 3 year old murderer after being raped. It's sickening.

@@kaylenwardlow3961 How many 3 year old murderers have you seen? and how many of them has he seen after being raped?

@@MM22966 Oh I see what you mean; I'm pretty he meant to say "murdered" and not "murderer." That's how I read his comment initially and overlooked it.

And yet the russians are playing at this game again, without the corresponding reason for such barbaric acts.

Definitely a hard subject to watch, especially when it seems this movie tries to show both sides of the story. Given what the Nazis did when they invaded Russia (mass executions, etc), while I don't condone the Soviet actions when the tide turned, i do understand it a little. And yes, i did keep looking over at the actual owner of this channel. :D

The Russians missed the opportunity to show they had more dignity than the "Fascists" they hated so much. Actually, as A. Grosman described in his famous novel, both regimes were fondamentally evil, and therefore very similar.
@rafaelsanz34417 күн бұрын
Russians behaved in that way when they invaded Baltic countries in an unprovoked invasion, as it´s the case in Ukraine now. Russians behave always like that, it´s not due to revenge.

A rather bleak and essential film to watch. It's a good reminder that war's complex and that the Germans weren't just the villains. Having done Soviet reenacting this isn't a topic we're eager to mention or discuss. We tell people it was wrong.

Thanks for the review, I will have to watch this film. The German actress is in the series The Defeated, which is on Netflix UK. This series is about a fledgling police force in Berlin, set immediately after WWII. Good limited series, I recommend it.

It's very important to know what truly happened after the war What happens after any world war I mean look at now in Ukraine different topic same story just now they're convicting a criminal who raped a 14-year-old 😮😮 It's very important to know what truly goes on not in the front lines or just behind the scenes what goes on between the people who suffers the most😢😢. On a side note that is one chubby chubby cat 🐈😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤

I wonder if this movie or the book addresses the atrocities and rape the Nazi Germany have done to the Soviets and other nations that they believed were inferior to them, specially when they were retreating. When the Germans were retreating they also did scourged earth strategy and burned, destroyed, murdered everything they can find and they also raped millions of woman in the occupied territories in Russian, Ukraine, Belarus, Polish and etc and when the soviets forces finally pushed the Germans out of these territories, they were horrified what the Germans have done to these places, thus they started this extreme hatred and humiliation. But compared to the Germans they were surprisingly restrained in their treatment. If this movie or book doesn't address these than the movies will lose all their credibility and sits in the category of propaganda.

I have read the book and seen the film, but do not understand your essential cowardice in not using the word 'rape'. it is an ugly word, but you move around it with sexual violence.
@JohnnyJohnsonHistory14 күн бұрын
Sexual violence, to me, is more all-encompassing. Includes more. No cowardice towards the subject here. This video was important to me as I used to work in social services and specifically helped many victims of rape and sexual violence.
