Blue rank experience can feel bad but this is where so much learning happens, though. And there is two sets of blue ranks for those that don't know yet, and be prepared if you don't know yet. Once you hit Tekken King for the first time and ascend out of blue ranks for the first time... Your prowess will spike quite a bit and now you are not playing with the same player pool. You are playing almost exclusively with gold ranks and beyond on their characters they haven't pushed through ranked yet (keep in mind that very often they are very solid on these characters on top of being solid players overall.) So there are blue ranks and the like... "Blue game plus ranks". It is very common for a newly promoted Tekken King to get demoted literally all the way back to Fujin and have to fight your way back up against 250k+ power players. Hitting Tekken King a second time on the same or a second character will legitimately be more difficult than the first time. This is truly the time you want to use instant replays after matchups where you had no idea what was going on. Any little piece of information you can find out and learn will help you immediately or in the near future. Unless it is a bear or eddy, then just leave and pretend it doesn't exist. /s

It was literally my same experience when I promoted from Rulers to Fujin. The game changed and got 2x hard, regardless of me demoting back to Rulers. But you can get used to it, it is just painful and sudden flood of disappointment. 😁 Same thing if you want to try other characters. Orange/red ranks is completely different for secondaries.
@jon63028 күн бұрын
I'm at 240k prowess and my highest rank is Fujin. Ranking up alts was impossible when it was prowess based, but now it's a lot easier since it's rank based. But I've still noticed the issue you mention since the system still matches by rank and then prowess. Every time I hit purple on a new alt, the difficulty spike is insane since I start fighting tekken king and tekken emperors on their alts. I appreciate getting to play with them, though. I love that they actually defend against cheese and exploit holes in my offense. At the end of the day, my rank is kind of meaningless. I just want to play some good ass tekken.

@CogbyrnАй бұрын
@Xero-Space I'm not convinced that it's necessarily a problem with the game, but if it is, I'm OK with it being a problem. Every fighting game has frustrating degeneracy to endure and overcome, and if a game's value is in a player's perceived ability to climb the ranks at the rate they think they should, I don't know how you develop around that long term. That doesn't mean that disconnects shouldn't just be an L for the person who disconnects and a W for the other person, but in general, I don't think the top 20-10%ile is hardly ever going to be anything but well executed cheese and powerful, simple gameplans. I’ve found that when you don’t think about the rank as a level up but rather when to stop playing it helps. Like “if I rank up or rank down from this position, then I stop.” Also to “play at the level of the rank.” If you’re in red ranks people will not be super good. They’ll know some minor combos and what to spam, but you gotta just do the same shit to them until you find smarter people to “play at their level.” Eventually you just see the cheese from these ranks and punish them and propel yourself into the higher ranks. It can be brutal but remember that it is legit just numbers and a title.

Just play for the joy of playing and put mental tape over your rank. It isn't the thing that proves to yourself that you are improving. That comes in the little moments as long as you're open to seeing them.
@Sicknificant1Ай бұрын
Just remember man, you hit Raijin, you can hit it again. You can hit Kishin, lose it, and hit it again. A lot of stuff you have to mentally focus on will become second nature eventually. Zafina was my first to Tekken king, I "escaped" blue ranks so I thought. Started playing other characters and recently fell in love with Devil Jin. Getting him out of purple/blue was torture, one because he isn't as priviliged as Zafina, but mostly bc the Tekken Power spike of having a Tekken King rank meant that I was going against much higher level players even at purple/blue ranks. Multiple times I went all the way to Bushin and all the way back down to even Fujin. I recently got him to Tekken King and for the moment am holding my rank going back and forth with wins and losses, but one bad streak of my weaker matchups or stronger players and I'll be down again. Try to be in that mental state where you are having fun and learning. Even if you are telling yourself "this guy doesn't know wtf he is doing." well turn that thought around into "I don't know how to deal with this playstyle and challenge yourself on how you can overcome that playstyle with your own gameplan/character." I get salty af sometimes too but now I'm a lot better at avoiding tilt or at the least pausing my ranked expereience and going into replays or practice to work on what is bothering me before just banging my head against the wall doing the same stuff over and over haha.

@@Sicknificant1 Yeah, trying to not SMASH MY GOD DAMN CONTROLLER. FUCKING YOSHMITSU AND THE 1+2 BREAK!!!! In all seriousness, the inconsistency between carried and not carried players is way too insane right now. I might wait for the next balance patch before hoping in. I main Jun and picked up Lee recently. None of my characters are strong right now. Especially when both Lee and Jun require a more defensive and patient playstyle. Jin, Nina and other super rush down style character are really hard to deal with. The 50/50 galore play style is very hard to deal with when both characters require set up and mind game to get into gear. Sabakis and other defensive options are just not reliable enough and myself am not good enough to punish reliably. Plus the effort i put into Lee is absurd versus the reward i'm getting. Practicing just frames and training lee's back 2 loop took me like 3-4 hours to get it reliably in practice... It really doesn't feel fair when some character like Jin can samsara into sweep with minimal execution.

Ok, so here are my two cents: Tekken is most fun at the blue ranks and below. Because people don't know the proper punishment, throwbreaks or how to deal with all your strings and whatnot. It's kinda more forgiving to play at those ranks. You don't need to do alot of 'homework' or grind difficult practice tasks. I have 7 characters at blue ranks and I stop when I reach it. Playing videogames should be fun, not feel like a chore. Having said that, as mostly a Lili-player myself, that Lili-player was pure cancer. He represents the worst of Tekken 8. Just doing super-punishable big moves, throwing out Matterhorn willy-nilly, doing punch-parry reversals and just playing in the most cringey, cheezy, scrubby flowchart kind of play. No defensive skills and still reaching Bushin is a statement of all that's wrong with T8. And when he was called out on his bullsh!t and the flowcharts stopped working and he was about to lose, he plugged. I mean.. why does such people exist?
@LogicLupusАй бұрын
Why do such people exist? Because just like you, they just want to have fun. They want to do their big moves and flowchart all over the place. They didn't pay 80 dollars to block. And they don't care about self-improvement, they care about winning. And when they lose, they plug so they don't have to deal with the feeling of losing their points on top of bruising their ego. It is 100% a selfish maneuver. Fighting games aren't like other video games. Playing them and learning them is more like learning a skill than simply playing around. And some people just haven't made that connection.

I truly don't understand why people have to get so insulting about how other people play a video game. It's complaining about fireball spam with some different details. It's just another opportunity to learn how to beat another playstyle. And these days (as of 2 months ago as far as i could find), Bushin is top 10% of ranked, which makes sense for someone who can run an oppressive offense. In the grand scheme, blue ranks aren't really that good.

The string is a knowledge check, you can low parry the second-hit on reaction every time. If the second-hit low hits you nothing is guaranteed but it's a forced 50-50 if he does the low or the mid extension
@michaelbyfield4382Ай бұрын
I’m pretty sure the low to mid is not natural so you can just block. He can go into stance after to be +7 (confirm that, not 100% sure). He has another low he can finish with but it’s very risky as it’s launch punishable. For me the most reliable thing is to block the string and be aware of the stance or (been labbing this myself) recognize the animation and low parry the second hit. If you get good enough at the low parry you take out a huge chunk of a lot of law players offense

Just like how you won’t always run into the players who go into every match with a game plan and force it, regardless if it’s working or not. And of course pluggers, the occasional macro user, etc. Tekken online is very volatile and if you stress over it then you aren’t going to have fun. If you aren’t having fun then what’s the point? Blue ranks are basically god ranks for people whose first tekken is tekken 8.

I jusy hit tekken king and man oh man it was. It was the time to lab ever character in the game which i did but i never gave up. Struck with a hype aggressive xiaoyu while learning how to use small tekken with her. Blue ranks ppl are really weird and odd, a little mid, and then u have godly players. I definitely have learn a lot playing on this rank

Alissa is such a brain dead character. I fully believe that most Alissa players are awful at the game and are one of the only characters I actually believe carry you. In chainsaw mode she is completely a casino character and takes absolutely requires 0 skill.
