Carly, you really put down a great foundation to build off of this week! The experience you gained will pay off in the near future. You are very smooth out there. You have a bright future in racing!
@billbaldwin18713 жыл бұрын
Carly, you're doing better at your young age and limited experience than most drivers with similar situations. You can't realistically expect a win (or even a podium finish) every night; but it's great that you do. You have a passion for dirt track sprint car racing and a serious competitive spirit that demands a win every time you strap in. You aren't afraid to get in there and mix it up. When you've got a good car and a track that allows for multiple lanes of racing, you'll move forward. As you gain experience, you'll figure out how to adapt to track (and car) conditions and make the best of every opportunity. I can see something special in you and your brother both. 10 years from now (if you stick with it) I can see you both at the top of your game. 10 years may seem like a long time, but trust me; it goes by in a flash as you get older.

Carly, I know you were disappointed with some of the results you had over this race week but believe me when I say you learned a ton. Racing is a game of ups and downs and you saw your share. The most important lesson was the hundreds of laps you ran under fire. The best drivers are not the ones who race like hell alone. The best learn how to be fast in traffic. Traffic can make you or break you and the best way to learn is to race in the middle of it and learn how to take advantage of it. It's a pain but it takes lot's of laps and some lumps on your head. You're doing fine and I see some "W"s in your future. God Bless you and the TEAM.

Good work Carly, there's a lot to get your head around while trying to keep a cool head on track.. Things often don't go our way on track, sometimes I think stewards should be ex-racers, that way a lot of bad calls could be avoided- some stewards lack skills too, lacking the on track perspective... You're keeping your cool & that counts heaps, especially while you are trying to enjoy which is also important. Take a pat on the back from an old Aussie ex-dirt-racer. By the way- being a steward can also be nerve racking, so understanding their position helps you too.

Tanner and Carly, the only thing i see that you can maybe work on if you watch some fast guys race, they don't saw that must on the steering they sorta drive into the turn hard the car is doing the turning for them and then they might counter turn once or twice, i think if you learn that you will have faster and smoother laps

When looking for getting into sprint car racing, hwo should I get my first car? Should I buy all the parts and build my own or get one that has already been built or partly built and fix it up? I would think I should build my own, but I don't know all the parts, or if I know anyone to be able to build a sprint car. Any tips to help me? Just finished the video! Some nice racing. Sucks that the false yellow messed up a few things
@howardwest27073 жыл бұрын
If you choose a 4 or 6 cylinder class and purchase used make sure you do a good inspection on the parts before using them. If it means a full teardown, replacement of all bolts and such then do it. Have the frame stripped and have the welds inspected by a reputable builder locally. You don't want a chassis failure or a bolt failure to wad up your gear before you ever get the chance to really learn. It takes extra time and a little extra money but it is worth it for your safety and your investment.

The thing I would do is go to the track where you would race a Sprint Car. Go up to drivers / teams before the race, yes buy a Pit Pass. Go around and tell the teams you want to learn about the cars. Tell them you want to drive one and is anyone from your neighbor hood. So you can go over to their shop and help work on one. Then after a year of being in the pits they may let you hot lap their car. Also some of the teams may be buying new chassis and selling a 3 or 4 year old one. Some teams if you work with them for a year may let you buy a used engine and run one of their older chassis in a lower class.
@RusskiPancake3 жыл бұрын
@@Ottos_ScLm_Race_videos_2009_on thanks for the tips. Defentitly have to start learning the parts and how everything works on a sprint before i actually drive in one. I don't know how to get a pit pass at huesets speedway, but I'll look into it. After the races we can also go on track and to all the different cars so I'll do that while I figure out pit passes
@Ottos_ScLm_Race_videos_2009_on3 жыл бұрын
@@RusskiPancake If you are old enough to go in the pits by yourself go to the pit shack where all the haulers go into the track. There you can see where to git a pit pass. If the stands open at 4pm go at 2:30pm and walk around by where the pit in is.
@michaelparker29333 жыл бұрын
Have to say.......... not impressed with the race tracks you've shown in the PNW. Not sure if the issue is the track material or the prep but they don't make for good racing at all in the videos you've posted. In spite of that, Carly seems to be progressing nicely with her driving.
