Great machine. I'm using it in a FTB Chocolate Mod Pack. I did get an error message saying I needed a minimum of 8 wind mill frames. So I just added them on top of the saws.

I'm pretty sure it's because the portable storage interface just pumps out any saplings you put in the chest as soon as you turn the machine on. I think there's ways to avoid this and he just didn't realize when he made the video.

Thanks for some great tutorials. I need a little help trying to figure out what Im doing wrong. I have built the tree farm as you have apart from using a mechanical rotator instead of windmill rotator. I can get it to harvest and and drop the wood etc into the chest but not deploy the saplings. Any ideas as to why its not doing that? Thanks for the help.

Idk what mod you are using but if you got your chunks claimed they do not plant stuff, you need to unclaim the chunks and then they will work just fine, at least thats what my problem with them was. Hope i could help out

Help i did this type of farm using the Mecanical Bearing and Radial Chasses and i am about to just delete the mod since i cant even get the oak logs to go from the onboard chest to the convayor i built the farm as shown here just using the power from my furnace engine to power it plants and cuts but cant get the items to transfer at all hoping its not a bug but my own error

As of the latest version of Create, this setup requires at least 8 sails/sail frames to assemble and start rotating. Doesn't look half bad, though.

indeed, its a restriction that makes sense though. its carried down from the windmill requiring 8 to produce any rotational force. its still essentially free though, great for farms, and it looks nice

You could increase the speed quite significantly, and without making it look too bad my covering the top of the deployers and saws with sail frames, and even get some extra rotational power out of the bearing.

You still need to add in a few extra sail frames on top of that since the breakpoint for the next tier of rotation is 16 sail blocks and even if you covered all deployers and saws with them youd still need 5 more on top of the initial one we put down. While that is an option, I think adding 15 additional sail frames would look pretty gross and defeat the minimal appearance. It is a good option tho if ya rly wanna speed it up :)

How do you keep the saplings from offloading into the chest? Once it makes one rotation it unloads all its saplings and can't replant. Did I do something wrong?

did some testing in creative, instead of a normal chute, use a smart chute with a filter and have the saplings set to the deny list in the filter. (Edit: typo)

In addition I'm using these on vault hunters 1.18 mod and anything that grows 2x2 struggles to grow so leave space is using jungle, spruce or any molded trees that grow 2x2

im also using this on VH 1.18...when i stop the machine, cause i just dont need that much wood, lol, when i go to start it back up it turns the trunk layer on the ground into a lazy susan, it basically just spins the logs around then I have to go through and manually clear the canopies and reset the machine from scratch......any thoughts on that from anyone?

Some european windmill designs use lattus sails instead of traditional sails, so that's what they mean.

If you put random flowers in there, you will get bee hives. The machine will not harvest them but, you can.

Liking this design...nice and compact!!! Are the size measures (4 diagonal/5 straight) the same if you wanted to increase the size of farm---e.g. 9 straight, 8 diagonal?

They do not appear to be so. The straight measurement will always be the arm length, but the diagonal will vary a bit. I tested a 9 long arm and it seems the diagonal is 7, making the overall shape slightly more circular.

Wouldn't a hopper work just as well as a chute? On the wheat farm that I used, one based off your radial design, I utilized hoppers to pull the items out of the portable storage interface. Granted I'm using a light mod pack so I don't know if that's effecting it.

Hoppers have far less throughput (i.e. much slower)

A hopper would in fact work, but as Jerry said, it is simply slower throughput so for mass item dumps quickly a chute is great.

Ran into an issue where it deposits all of the saplings from it's inventory and then has nothing to plant. This can be fixed by using a brass funnel instead of a chute beneath the extraction chest with a filter denying saplings.

I believe in that case you will eventually run into an issue with the attached chest inside being overloaded with saplings and it collecting nothing. Eventually the chest emptying wont matter because a tree will be destroyed right after it unloads its saplings and be able to replant the ones it missed before. It may have a few bare spots for 1 or 2 rotations right after the item exchange, but that shouldnt make any different in the grand scheme of things.

Renewable :) you have to jump start it with some, but then it will use the saplings it gets from the leaves to replant with the deployers.

Seems like in Create 3.1 they also increased the "no deploy zone" of deployers to 2 blocks instead of 1. So keep that in mind when designing your Tree farms.

i do not know if it is an issue for the mod / modpack but I have an issue (which is probably my mistake) with the deployers not having any saplings in the inventory after it unloaded. do not know if it is an issue of the newer mod versions but do i need to just feed the saplings back in again?

You can place a filter in the portable storage interface and put it to throw the logs and sticks so the sapplings stay in the machine
