Yes this season gets so much unnecessary hate. It was a pivotal change for the show too. Wasn’t like Australia where everyone is buddy buddy and they don’t care who wins.

When you realize statistically survivor is at some of it’s highiest point since all Australian Outback but not exceeding it. It’s doing fine but CBS doesn’t care to put the resources the same

I just rewatched this whole season for the 3rd time. I used to have it in my top 10 seasons, but it has fallen a lot. I think this season didn't age well for two main reasons. 1.) How bitter and hypocritical the jury was. They couldn't separate the game from real life back then. This was the worst season for it. 2.) How mean and nasty Rob was to the other players behind their backs in confessionals.
