For those who don't know, or can't remember what happened here, this is the breakdown: Dan was a touchy-feely player with the girls. (Note: the younger ones, not Janet.) Even when hinted to stop (usually they pulled away or retained space), he refrained for a short time, but soon after started it up again. Rubbing their shoulders, touching their hair, arm around their waists, etc. This was notably first addressed by Kellee Kim, who you see sitting on the jury. Kellee's decision to place a complaint fueled Dan to get her voted out of the game. As you can see -- it worked. After this, Dan continued to be inappropriate with personal space. Missy and Elizabeth saw an opportunity to target Dan, by making up a story that he had been making them feel uncomfortable. Janet was an ally of Dan's (mainly because they were the two older players), but also had a quality about her that the girls found they could trust, like a mother. They confide in Janet that they are being harassed by Dan, even though it's a concocted story, yet believable considering what just happened to Kellee Kim. Janet believed their story. Janet decided, for the good of the game and to protect the girls, she would go against her alliance and vote Dan off so that they were felt more safe. Remember: this move by Missy and Elizabeth would badly affect Janet no matter what. Had she sided with Dan, she would appear socially (and likely globally with the show's viewers) to be complacent where sexual harassment was concerned. But siding with the girls was morally the right thing to do, even if it damaged her alliance. Either way, the #MeToo movement was the theme of this season, and Dan would be made an example of. What ended up happening hurt the movement as we witnessed two girls take advantage of a man in order to propel their position within the game -- all the while, needing to believe the victims was crucial. While Dan was certainly touchy-feely, the allegations that Missy and Elizabeth made were untrue. Believing the victims was never more questioned as the two girls proved that they could play the victim card to get what they wanted, knowing that people should blindly believe them. In the end, the girls put out a scripted public apology on their Twitter accounts, and left it at that. Actions taken by all, starting with Dan who didn't understand boundaries, to the women who concocted a story to catapult the situation further, and to the show's producers who used the #MeToo movement for ratings did no one any good. The victims here were Kellee, who tried to say something and was voted out. And Janet, who tried to help, but her likability -- especially regarding this situation, made her too much of a threat and eventually was voted out because of it. Also affected: the women around the world who watched this unravel, who may question whether or not it is wise to speak up at all about their own sexual harassments or sexual assaults.

Summary: Dan was very touchy, especially with the girls. Some thought it was just his way of showing affection, others thought it was weird. Kelle was very uncomfortable with it. She had a chat with him and asked him to stop. Dan seemed to respond very positively and apologized for making her uncomfortable. However he is seen touching her again a few times (mind you, these weren't inappropriately ways of touching people, but still wrong because she told him not to). Kelle didn't want to make a big deal about it because she was afraid it would ruin her game. Production stepped in and talked to everyone separately to respect boundaries but told Dan he was the reason for the talks and he needed to be more mindful or he would be kicked off. That ended things but Kelle still wanted Dan out. She incorrectly believe the other girls were just as creeped out by Dan as she was. Missy and Elizabeth used the situation to blindside her. They also used it to make Janet look like a traitor to Dan who was one of her closest allies. Janet really liked Dan but wanted the women to feel safe. This tribal was supposed to be the end of it. A few days later, Dan was getting on a boat with Janet after a challenge. He was falling and kept his balance by catching himself on a female producer. Because of his behavior beforehand, production suspected it may not have been an accident and didn't want any lawsuits. They kicked him off the show which shocked everyone as those who saw it, didn't think anything of it. The episodes aired and since we were in the middle of the metoo movement we get people acting like Dan sexually assaulted Kelle. Missy and Elizabeth both got death threats for using the situation to their advantage. At the reunion, many castmates were planning on saying good things about Dan who they believed was rail roaded by production for ratings. They were essentially going to say something along the lines of him being wrong, but still believing he was a good person. Production shut that down as they didn't want the woke mob coming after them and canceling their show. You can find Noura's post game interview at the reunion where she states how she feels about the situation. Let's just say production is happy they didn't ask her about her thoughts at the reunion lol.

I felt so bad for Janet - she has one of the biggest hearts and an excellent moral compass and one of the biggest bullies and entitled castaways in Survivor history (Missy) and her little sidekick/lapdog (Elizabeth) manipulated and used it against her for an issue that goes WAY BEYOND the game of Survivor. While I do get, the whole "it's just a game" and "it's part of the game - lying and manipulating" and I'd be saying the same thing...the line was crossed (not only by Dan), but with them using it to their advantage for a cause that has been made known to so many and affected so many really crossed the line that I blame the producers and others for not stepping in sooner then this whole thing could've been avoided. I'm just glad the bully got what she deserved and her lapdog followed suit right afterwards - karma is a bitch and it bit em both right in their butts and mouths

It's very layered. Now it has to be said Kellee also wanted Missy gone originally, not Dan first, as much as he is a creepy POS. Edit: I should have added that Kellee may have wanted for CBS to intervene, PERIOD, to get Dan disqualified for legal and safety reasons, and rightfully so, and still get on with her plan to get Missy out

The producers should’ve stepped in way earlier when they did…It’s sickening that he got to go further in the game but those he targeted didn’t.

Aaron is being ignorant, because HELLO regardless of it being show, someone got hurt because of someone’s actions.

I am a firm believer in women getting their voices in heard. I am a gay male and I sympathize. But there does come a point that if too much time passes, you do not have the right to accuse or fingerpoint. Everyone changes and has the right to do so. This is not to negate or make women feel like they can’t say something when an awful thing has indeed, happened to them. People evolve after time and if you take too long to open up, you’re living in a past when they already moved on. It’s a double edged Pandora’s box. To the woke man screaming about “we don’t have the right to decide about women complaining”, yes, we actually do. Because men have rights to defend themselves to. There is always 3 versions of a story, theirs, ours and the truth. And only those involved get to judge.

I'm disgusted at the few women who used it as a ploy and screwed with Janet's pure heart. I did wonder if Kelly would be able to speak in tribal. Wherever Janet and Jamal are in this world I really hope that karma is giving them a beautiful life.

Aaron would have had a point IF it wasn't true. Such allegations can destroy a person's life, but at the same time, I believe they ought to be taken in good faith, since people don't intentionally set out to ruin someone's reputation on false pretences. But it WAS true about Dan, and while it's upsetting, it's more upsetting for his victims, not for him.

One of survivors worst moments. Sexual harassment is never ok, especially if it’s used to further you in a game watched by millions. It’s too serious of an issue. This was shocking. Props Janet and Jamal.

There were so many people who made disgusting decisions in this game. Not only is this a perfect example, but remember how a lot of them bullied each other? As in, to the point of breaking and spiraling into a depression? The horrid moral decisions and beliefs this season very much overshadowed the good ones

1:49 “No.....No.....uhhhh. This whole idea of if this was actually an issue then I would’ve heard about he would’ve heard about it. That’s exactly what happens in the real world guys. This is exactly what happens in the real world. When a woman brings up a charge and people wanna negate whether or not it’s legitimate, they say well like if it’s such a big issue she would’ve brought it up last year. Two years ago. Three years ago. We are not entitled to know things just because we’re men or just because we’re in power.” -Jamal Shipman

Lmao Aaron said that Janet was trying to assume the role of the victim. Maybe if Aaron would have paid a lick of attention to anyone but his own ass he’d have 1) seen Dan’s creepy behavior and 2) recognized when he was next to go. After watching his apology video to Kellee I have to laugh. Tried to be all Alpha and ended up getting castrated.

this and the season where zeke was outed as Trans by that other guy (can't remember his name rn) made me angrier and more upset than any other TV show ever has. this episode in particular had me questioning if I even wanted to finish the season bcuz I was so upset. I remember when this episode aired and i got so upset i was sitting there sobbing like a baby. my mom, bless her heart, tried so hard to console me and told me we didnt have to watch it anymore if it made me that upset. I liked Missy at first, but after this, I lost any and all respect for her and Elizabeth. I have to say I even lost a bit of my respect for the Survivor staff for brushing it under the rug when Kelley initially reported it.

As Jamal drops the truth from 1:50 you see Elizabeth, then Karishma, then Tommy, then (even) Dan, then Lauren, then Aaron all nod their heads yes, followed by Janet's head rising, and Jeff putting a capping point on it . As crappy as all of this was, it was good to see this part
