Survivor Michigan: The Michigan Difference Episode 8- "Merge-O-Clock"

SO crazy, I began watching college survivor as a whole during COVID because I was so insanely bored, and it ended up filling a void in my brain that really needed filling, been watching Survivor Michigan ever since!

spoilers for S4E3 -March 2020; I was actually laid off the week before the COVID shutdown but was able to find a new job really quickly. I hadn’t watched any College Survivor yet but binged all of Maryland in Summer of 2020 and got into Michigan as Wolverine Wars was airing in 2021. -Ellie went to Spring Break in Belize? Damn Survivor Michigan players are rich. Jack going to Orlando actually is a perfect match (I went to Orlando last month and there actually are a lot of cool areas and parks) -That conversation of George and Jack driving around at night was so cool. And I think one of the positives of the COVID era is that it will lead to more interesting confessional locations, angles, and lighting than what we’re used to seeing. -Emily’s rando vote for Jack might be a bad move-but I’m really liking her stealth alliance with Ian, as well as George’s obviously bologna alliance with Noah. -Jes____ ____dy; I think the star on the Walk of Fame that Grace put her name on top of was Jessica Tandy, star of Fried Green Tomatoes and several other films (RIP). -Sokka is called “all buisness” but Obsiddian was the tribe that sounds like it’s a team on The Apprentice. Speaking of, bless you George for not including Trump in any other the news clips. -Little Caesar’s Merge Feast! Repping a Michigan business and also it’s the cheapest ass pizza you can get. Ian was on fire from the feast all the way through to winning the challenge-that might be one of the most impressive Michigan challenge performances ever outside of those long Final Endurance ones. It was no surprise Ian won that challenge, editing takes a keen eye and a steady hand. -Lindsay’s first confessional was 42:41 minutes in! Lynsey’s was 45:39 in! Thejas did not have a confessional (where he was talking to the camera anyway…) -Taylr loses Justin’s fake clue-I actually think the closest comparisons for both are Meghan and Jackson respectively (except Justin is doofy instead of douchey). -Is Grace the first female to find an idol since Aliza in early S4? Am I forgetting someone from All-Stars? The Idol Triumverate is awesome-three of the most charismatic and strategic players are in an alliance and they all have idols??-there’s so many different ways that this can go. The fate of Thejas’ Legacy Advantage hangs in the balance, but there’s no one remaining he had as meaningful of a connection with as the one he formed with Luke. -The “medevac” was an unconventional beginning to what will surely be an unconventional merge. It did allow a chance for the players to reminisce and look forward-of what little we saw of Thejas he actually seemed like a really funny, charismatic guy. With a more robust confessional count I could’ve seen him developing into a Kevin-like character. -Thejas joins Mallory, Andrew, and Dylan in the Zero Votes Against club. And because he’s a graduating senior (and likely wouldn’t be asked back anyway lol) he joins Mallory as the only members of the Zero Career Votes Against Club. (I know not everyone counts votes this way, but I say if you at some point write down the name of the boot during tribal it counts as correct to account for splits. By that metric, Thejas went 5/5 and joins Dale as the only members of the 100% Voting Club. -Random dog! I THINK that was a German Shorthair Pointer; my family had one growing up and that is a fantastic and friendly breed.

Man this episode was just hard to watch. Seeing them go on spring break vacations, little did they know what would arrive just a few weeks later. Justin brings more to the show than thejas so I’m hoping he uses this second chance well! Hoping this zoom based game will continue to build the drama in the endgame!

Damn - a sombre end to a decent episode . . . . Big respect to Thejus, he was a fun character and he left the game with dignity and warmth Despite the stray Jack vote, I think Emily is playing a fantastic game. She has great reads and is keeping her options wide open. Absolutely love Lyndsay's energy - her f bombs always shock me and I just love her goofy attitude. Also really like how independently Ellie is playing the game. Sure it'd made her a target here and there, but I feel like not being so entangled could work to her advantage later down the line. Taylr remains great tv; her confessional always deliver. Shoutout to production for the pivot they'll have to make here, and for committing to keep the game running.

gutted we lost Thejas here, but it’s understandable. Hope he and everyone involved are doing great currently. As the first non vote off elimination, it sucks that someone like Thejas who was clearly having fun and playing well had to opt out. Again understandable decision, just dissapointing. All but love to Survivor Michigan production, cast, and most importantly Thejas ❤

Seeing the effects of Covid compromise another stellar season of Survivor Michigan was certainly interesting and invoked a lot of memories from 4 years ago.

Spoilers below The virus has begun. Hope everyone going through this was doing alright, I know it was hard for me for sure. Respect Thejas’ decision. Hope he is doing well after all this. I am interested to see how they do hybrid challenges with in person and online.

They don't know which card they have, only the opponent's

this game is a common one in the genius. the player places their card on there forehead without looking, only being able to see your opponents. Its supposed to be a mind game about tricking your opponent into thinking they have a worse card then they actually do so they fold
