Indeed! I was quite young when Howard was on the MNF crew. Still remember enough of him, though. It was no-frills highlights. No selling-of-personas, just the darn highlights and the results spoke for themselves.

I see others who liked the Half-Time Highlights like I did. I was just a kid in the 70's. I used to beg my parents to let me stay up until the end of the 2nd quarter so I could watch the Half-Time Highlights! The 70's and early 80's had the best MNF team ever! Pure football! I miss those days!

Stayed competitive til then end and showed how the Bucs got competitive after that terrible 0-26 start to begin the franchise. They did it with defense, of course. It was good to see Doug Williams get a measure of personal redemption as a Redskin. He had matured mightily by that time anyway.

@@davanmani556, agreed on the fans. I remember reading about the rotten watermelon some sick fan mailed to him back then. And I meant he matured as a QB, not a person. Too, every old game I've seen of that era's Bucs feature a lot of dropped passes. The defense carried them in '79, '81 and '82.

Start time of 9pm ET, now every sissy complains if the start time is past 8pm, and scheduling gets earlier and earlier all the time. The only national events that start late anymore is the UFC. The NFL really needs to go back to 9pm starts for MNF because nothing is worse than a Monday NIGHT game on the west coast where it's still sunny in the 4th quarter.
