Crazy game. Dorsett was unstoppable, but Dallas kept throwing and getting picked off. Those young Giant teams under Perkins made a lot of mistakes but played really hard. In ‘81 they made it to the playoffs by beating Dallas again in NJ in the last game of the season - one of the all-time great Giant wins!.

I have to thank my uncle who is a Giant fan who took us to the game. Seeing my heroes on the field was the greatest thrill for a 9 year old boy. The Cowboys lost in a crazy game which I prob cried on the way home but it was a memory ill never ever forget. I took so many pics and for years I always used to look at them, till Hurricane Sandy destroyed everyrhing I ever owned. Sucks. Watching this game again now brings back so many memories.

A rare Cowboys-Giants game without Summerall, Brookshier, or Madden at the mic. Summerall and Brookshier were working the Falcons-Cardinals on this day. From 1974 through 1988, CBS had its top team work at least one, and usually both, Cowboy-Giant games in every season except 1982 and 1985. The teams didn't meet in 1982 due to the strike, and in 1985 CBS aired them only once, in Week 15, a day after Summerall and Madden worked the Bears-Jets national telecast. In 81 Simms got hurt and was replaced by Brunner, who took the team to the playoffs. He missed all of 82 due to a preseason injury. He started 83 on the bench and got a chance against the Eagles in game 6, when Parcells pulled Brunner. Simms came in and began to rally the team, the crowd was behind him, you could feel the excitement growing... all for about 5 minutes until he smashed his hand on a helmet and nearly tore his thumb off, which was the end of that season for him. I decided at that point that this guy was never gonna do anything because he couldn't stay on the field. That was the following year, 1981. This game was pretty much the only highlight for the Giants in 1980. What this game did do was give the Eagles the division title and allowed them to host the NFC championship game vs. Dallas. Dallas would have hosted the NFC Championship in 1980 and 1981 (the Catch game) had they not lost both times late in the year at Giants Stadium. Maybe Danny White would have gotten to a Super Bowl if those games had been at home.

Giants lineman Roy Simmons later came out as gay. His number was 69.

Never understand home teams wearing their away jerseys
@johnphelan42153 жыл бұрын
Lots of teams did this against the Cowboys in those days. There was a belief that their blue jerseys were "jinxed." The Cowboys sort of believed it themselves, as the next year they redesigned them from basically a reverse of the white jersey to a completely different thing, with navy instead of royal blue and gray numbers and stripes with a white outline instead of the white with no outline.

There is no such thing as a home or road jersey anymore in 1964 the NFL put in a rule that any team can wear white at home if they want

westpoint snell all time record in these jerseys was 10-11...... and I believe 1-4 in 1980 . If not for this record in 80’ it would have just been a myth......
